This is why I quit ordering from Optics Planet...

Just an FYI, that doesn't seem to be working anymore.

Placed an order (and was charged in full, not an "authorization") for an in stock item, received an email a few hours stating it was being packed for shipment. Thirteen days later the status remains unchanged, so I click Cancel Order and it says, "Your Cancellation Request Has Been Submitted". That was five days ago and I never received an email confirming the cancellation, a credit to my card and the status is still processing. It even still lets me click on Cancel Order. First and last order with Optics Plant.
the woman whose card was charged, was told in email, that the order cannot be cancelled.
Whoa boy.
Who the f*** is giving your personal information out to some other customer?
right! they gave the shipping information ( she looked up the phone number) of my work.

Hmm. Seems like a straightforward cardwashing scheme - S takes money from person A on eBay/PPal, uses Person V's card to order it from OP, ship to A. S is gone from eBay soon after. V is stuck with a bill/card fraud dispute. A is possibly stuck explaining how this happened.
it doesn't make sense to me, either. the women never asked for any other info, she is disputing the charge on her end, but thought this was really fishy so just wanted to give me a heads up to watch my charges.

Damn, what a frickin' mess!

I was able to use their online chat to supposedly cancel my order finally. It is showing cancelled in the store backend. Hopefully my card will be credited in a timely manner. My order was for a complete upper that said it was in stock and ships in 1-6 days. I think after 13 days of waiting for it to ship it's a pretty good sign they don't have it and it's not going to ship. They now show they are all out of stock with a 5-8 month backorder. I already ordered and received the upper from another online vendor. Like I said, first and last order with Optics Planet.

here is the email she forwarded from OP ( i redacted her info), she also said she tried calling multiple times and never got to speak with some one. so the woman did have the order number and i can understand them giving the shipping info, maybe they (OP) think i scammed her cc info? still she says she has never ordered from them.

This is the issue:

"received an email a few hours stating it was being packed for shipment."

Once it hits that state you can't easily cancel the order, that much I am sure of. Have received an order before where I did something similar, never even got a notification they did anything with the cancelation request.

I think one of two things is going on, suspect the latter, either they are just really backed up and it is just taking forever to ship, or they realized your "in stock" item was not on the shelf as expected when they went to pick the order so now it's in limbo until someone verifies it really doesn't exist and puts it on backorder (and then you get notified or maybe they do actually cancel it at that point).

I have seen stuff go from that shipping state back to awaiting fulfillment, even seen a backordered item go to a shipping state after a month and then back to awaiting fulfillment again, then a week or two later it actually shipped.

Would be nice to have a window into what the hell goes on there, my guess is they do everything as efficiently as possible with minimal changes ever from their processes (read little to no customer service), ie once the warehouse accepts an order (which is probably an online ticket of some sort) then there is no way of stopping it.

Like I have said a lot..

OP is good for low prices and patient people. Have got a number of stupid good deals there, ie beat the best sales price you ever find at the other places we consider cheap by like another 15%. But rarely are they fast, even in quiet gun buying times. Basically if a month is too long I wouldn't buy from them.

And again as well, they allow backorders on basically everything they sell, which is a nice option. Have 2 faxon barrels ordered at great prices, supposedly shipping in May :). Hey nobody else has got them, instead of wasting time searching for them on a daily basis I just got in line and eventually they will show up (probably at about the same time everyone else gets them in stock).

Yep. Went through the same things that all of you have with them. Waited 2 months for a trigger pack for my 10/22. Finally cancelled went on Ebay had it in 2 days.

i have rec'd two shipments from Optics Planet over the past couple of days; trigger upgrade parts and magazines for 10/22. There was a two week turnaround on these orders, which was completely acceptable given the $ difference from some other vendors.

I still have a pending backorder with them for something very specific - but that part is unavailable anywhere - and if that get fulfilled at the price I ordered for...I will be very happy

At this particular time, patience is an absolute virtue. I have visited all the gun shops in my immediate area over the past couple of weeks and there is bupkiss on the shelves, so actually ordering and receiving a product is kinda nice
