My Niece who is in 7th grade at Sanborn Regional school in NH was informed that they want the kids to wear Yellow and Green Thursday for “LBGT” day or whatever the term is. Are you freaking kidding me? I got no problems with gays or bisexual people nor do I give a shit if someone wants to identify as the opposite sex. But why the F**K do we need to celebrate it and force it down people’s throats let alone 7th grade kids? I’m getting really annoyed at this on so many levels, my sister is bullshit and is keeping my Niece out of school for the day. I would expect this nonsense in a Massachusetts school but in NH? Really?

Don’t just keep the kid out for the day. Call the school admins and voice your concerns. That’s the only way they will be able to take your views into consideration. What happens is they only hear one perspective so assume everyone is of the same view.

Do they have any NRA hats or shirts? Way back when Obama was elected they had this Obama indoctrination thingy in the grandkids' school. Their dad kept them out of school that day and said that they couldn't attend because their brown shirts were not back from the cleaners. Jack.

Let them dress how they want, who cares what the color of the day is?

It makes for fun dinner table conversations.

We have to wear a color tomorrow.
    Why?
    Peace and friendship.
    Do you want to?
    No.
    Then don’t.
    I’ll get in trouble.
    Have them call me.

I have to wear team colors tomorrow because of the game.
    //sends kids to school wearing a flag//

I don’t care the reason, these things are all choice. It isn’t a uniform and I make sure to teach my kids how to push the envelope and say no, while following the letter of the rules. Ask my kids why they wear a helmet and they’ll say it’s a stupid law, I don’t shield them from Gov stupidity, but they know they have to follow laws. I don’t wear a helmet, because I’m exempt per the law.

I can’t wait to hear about the fun they have in Basic Training. Lol

When you say "They want", who is "they" and why would you/ your sister give a flying F what they want? What happens if your niece shows up tomorrow not wearing the colors? Will she be put in mandatory sensitivity training? LOL. My kids are still babies but if the time ever comes where something like this is forced on them at school, I'm going to send them in wearing their usual attire and tell them that if anyone has a problem with it, to come see me personally.

The LGBT community only make up a very small percentage of the population yet today's youth think that they represent far more. My daughter was surprised when she looked it up and found they only make up around 2%.
Why is such a small percentage getting such huge attention?

At 7th grade it is getting to the point that she should just act as she deems appropriate. If she wants to, do it. If she doesn't want to, don't do it. If she fears judgement from peers, well that's rough peers of all ages are raging hypocritical narcissists, double if in middle school so she should stay home if she wants. If she fears reprisal from school administrators/teachers, well they are welcome to take it up with the parents cause adults in power are not entitled to be dictating kids politics and actions.

Looked up, can't figure out what day thursday would be. If it was Today it would be "Day of Silence" which is 'annual day of action to protest the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students and their supporters.' If it is for that, then I kind of get the school organizing a "if you want to show support against harassment of LGBT wear these colors this day" and leave it at that. I am against people being bullied or harassed due simply for their sexual status, got enough reasons to dislike people so could not care less about what people they want to take as a partner. Not sure about the other holidays, but I can support a day where people choose to protest bullying and harassment. (LGBTQ Holidays)

Maybe I have spent too much time in MA, but when I went to college I met people who with a straight face would talk about how they pray someone finds a cure for homosexuality. I have met people who were isolated or bullied and got into destructive habits because they were into the same gender and someone found out. People getting beat up, people getting sexually assaulted, or just people being afraid when they meet a new crowd because they don't know if someone is going to scold them for holding their date's had. All those things are BS, people should just be able to live their lives.

My kids middle school has no less than 4 different pamphlets on how being gay/lgbt/whatever is perfectly ok and not a single one on straight being ok.

Not sure what the big deal is. Your niece should just wear whatever the hell she wants. If admin types give her any guff about it, then that's the time to go full
    retard.

The problem is that the schools are putting in these kids heads that members of the LGBT do not have the same right and opportunities that everyone else has. That's simply not true. I'm all for protesting bullying but that's not what's usually being protested.

I wonder if the timing has anything to do with the transgender ban in the military that just took effect. They should really explain to these kids the reasoning behind it and that it isn't violating anyone's rights.

My Sister is keeping her out of school because she thinks it’s bullshit that “They” meaning the School Admin? are having the event to begin with, nobody is forcing anyone to wear the yellow and green and no she won’t get into trouble for not wearing the colors but it’s the point of the whole thing. My Niece is not a baby but WTF let kids her age develop how they want and support what they want on their own when they are ready.

    THIS^

At the end of every rope there is a lonely nutcase. Posting here solves nothing. Marching in the school is what I would do. I would stay away from communities and I would ask how the school plans to protect those who may be bullied because they did not wear clothing as dictated by a teacher.

All my kids grew up in this mess which is getting worst every year. I was teaching my kids that nobody cares what you want, what you feel, what you think.....No stickers, flags, statements of any kind. You are in the school to get the best grades possible, school is your job. Teacher is always correct, and if you think that teacher is there to spread some BS agenda, let me handle it. You, as a student, have no rights to any objections, but if teacher wants you to do something else and signs you up for some silly activities which have nothing to do with you learning, let me know and I will show up.

I made sure that I have supported every school they were in so I have something to say and that was another important part of my strategy. You have to invest in schools on your own and you have to be known as an investor. Without it you are nobody and your voice does not matter.

This was my winning strategy and it worked on all schools. Even when my kid was accused at the university of a sexual harassment because he was speaking in Japanese (yes!) we have won and finished with papers required for today's screwed up society to even recognize you.

Schools, community, politicians, police, are all against you. Have no illusions. Act accordingly!

    Bravo!

That’s exactly how my parents raised me.

But it’s also why we homeschool our kids. The bullshit grew exponentially from the 80s to now. And it was bullshit in the 80s.

    Thank you, Sir!

I have a great advantage, I was growing up in the communism so I know very well what COMMUNITY CAN DO TO YOU!

I am puzzled by so call "modern America" in which everyone is an individual unit which does whatever it wants. Kids decide to rat on parents, girlfriends on boyfriends, when mom trips and brakes a hip she is expedited in the retirement home....... I trained all my kids and spouses and relatives that we are one and we need to rely on each other. We are here so we can prevent society form damaging us. When you are in the hospital, I am there because I do not trust a nurse from some $thole caring more about you than me, for example. Same with schools. You are kid, but I am a parent. Your job is to learn and my job is to raise hell when learning is not happening or is replaced by some silly useless activities. Your teacher wants a bucket challenge? He or she should have it!

I have no problem with showing support for the LBGT community, but it should be a choice not mandated which is what seems to be going on here. The problem with this stuff is that if that 7th grader showed up wearing red, white and blue, wearing MAGA gear and/or a 2nd amendment T-shirt they would promptly be sent home. It’s the double standard that is getting really old.

School is not the place for any of this. Unfortunately there is a huge double standard on what causes are acceptable and what causes are not.

I'm so old that I can remember when kids were encouraged to embrace their gender roles, get married to people of opposite sex, and have children.

I have a problem with the community shifting responsibility onto teachers. Schools are here to teach. They are not here to mold our kids into citizens. That is what parents do. If parents refuse to do their job than we have a feeling that somebody has to step in. That is wrong. You do not come to a dentist to fix your car. Do you?

The niece should wear what she wants and everyone should just mind their own if they don’t like what’s going on.
Not like most kids at any age really give a shit beyond getting out of assignments if they play along.

Edit: I participated in day of silence so the teachers would leave me alone lol

How does having an LBGTQMNOPQ day affect what she supports or not? etc. Unless its mandatory, this is functionally no different than Halloween or some other
relatively meaningless holiday. It's not like they're going to be forced to watch gay porn in the auditorium after lunch or something. If she gets flack from her peers
over it, then fine, go full retard, but I doubt it will rise to that.

It's no different than like when I was in like the 6th grade and they offered you the option of doing choir or having a study class. I opted out of that bullshit (I don't sing
really well, except other than to terrorize or screw with people, lmao) and did the study class so I could burn off my homework before I left school because I had lawns and
    shit to mow...
