The Mk II has a Euro-style mag release at the base of the grip. You can get extended mag releases for short money, or drill and tap the existing one and stick an Allen head screw in it like I did if you're handy with a drill press. The 22/45 has a 1911-style magazine release. I don't know about the "original" 22/45, but the one that I have says it's a Mark III 22/45, and it's got the stupid magazine design. Don't know if they changed them or not.
