Things to do in Las Vegas?

WOW looks like I'll have plenty of things to do out there! Won't be able to do them all in the short time I'm there but good to know for when I go back. Appreciate all the helpful info!

There's a whorehouse museum in Pahrump.

Not far past that (by Western US standards) is Amargosa Valley and Death Valley. On the other side of Death Valley is Panamint Valley where Charles Manson's compound was. That's all old mining country so lots of ghost towns.

I've always wanted to see Death Valley. A coworker of mine went and said I should give myself at least one or two days because it's a long drive through with many places to stop and checkout? Only one way in and one way out? I don't know how true that is but I would assume she wouldn't lie to me.

It’s definitely worth the trip. We drove there from LV when the last valley bloom happened. It was insane to see flowers growing in the desert.

I haven't been back in several years, but I always like the buffet at the Rio

It takes about 2 1/2 hrs to get there, and you can see a fair amount of sites there in a day. There's a gas station and restaurant there as well. Just leave really early from Vegas and plan to stay late to give yourself enough time. It'll be relatively cool when you go, but bring a case of water, drink plenty of it and don't wander far from your car.

Just off the top of my head:

Bad water (lowest elevation in the US)
Dunes
Furnace Creek
Devil's Cornfield
Artist's route.

I know you're going with your wife but if she has a sense of adventure, it bears repeating, Spearmint Rhino. Even if just for a cocktail...

If you get sick of Vegas prices and you want bar food (nothing special) and reasonable drinks close to the strip check out BJ's Cocktail lounge. The name implies adult but it's just a cocktail bar. Ask for Trish, she's awesome.

Walk the casinos, lots of great people watching and just lots to see.

Food is really expensive as others have said and I've never really been wowed. Even a steak at the Wynn restaurant seemed underwhelming to me.

Also, as to carry, I imagine there is a lot more wanding going on post 10/1 and I wouldn't really take the chance carrying. But if you go to Fremont street at night, it may be worth the risk. It gets sketchy FAST!

If you want to gamble with the locals and actually have a decent chance with regards to odds and payouts, leave the strip and Fremont too and find a Station Casino.

Half of the Cosmo overlooks the Bellagio fountains. Pretty cool at night if you can get one of the rooms on that side. They gave us the option when checking in.

I like the Eiffel Tower restaurant for great food/drinks and a great view of the Bellagio fountains.

i too was pleasantly surprised by the eiffel tower restaurant, and the bar. I expected a total rip off, but it was very good food.

Headed out early December for a few nights. Haven't been in a few years, but staying at the Wynn this time.

As others have said dining is very good, remember having very good food and drink at Lavo at the Palazzo, splurged with winnings from a slot machine. The house really does win either way.
Also have a few shows I'd like to check out. Keeping an eye on this for more ideas.

We've been to LV a lot. It's a great place to people watch, see shows, and eats. We've rented machine guns, taken a helicopter into the Grand Canyon. You should find the shows online and get tickets before you go. Most of the venues are pretty good, but Cirque Soleil does have some obstructed view.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but the Shelby museum is in LV. If you are into cars, it might be worth a trip.

There is also a place, outside of the city, where you can play with big kids toys - dozers, excavators, etc.

Great food out there. Someone mentioned Tao. That's a cool place.

Best description of Vegas I have heard...Can't wait to get there and can't wait to get the hell out. My max is three days (I don't gamble).

Booked the sun buggy baja race for Sunday and will be renting my dream car on Monday - Nissan GTR. Can't. Friggin. Wait.

My wife and I decided against the Grand Canyon helicopter tour as we plan on going back and seeing it from the ground.

We plan on seeing some of the shows and the hoover dam, red rock canyon, valley of fire etc.

If I ever go back, I'll have to add this to my list of things to do [laugh]
