There’s a growing amount of evidence that Trump has a great shot of being reelected in 2020

As I have stated repeatedly throughout this thread, if given the choice of Trump vs. any of the declared/presumed Democrat candidates, I would choose Trump 100%.

This doesn't change the fact I view him as hardly ideal and that I reserve the right to call out certain policies and positions he takes as stupid or anti-freedom.

Some, unfortunately, cannot or will not understand or accept this distinction.

    I only skimmed the thread.

I can't dispute that Trump is an a%%. He wasn't Hillary, though and that alone would have been enough. The fact that he is inhumanly effective at trolling liberals is a surprising delight. Everything beyond that (the SCOTUS picks, etc) are just icing on the cake.

I used your post as a PSA to remind people that Joe Biden was the author of the Gun Control Act of 1994, a fact that people seem to forget.

Personally I'd love to see the Republican's put forth a candidate who's eloquent and tough and doesn't come across as a buffoon with his stupid tweeting and name-tagging of everybody (friend or foe) who challenges him like a five year old. The fact that we seem to have a whole bunch of boobs to choose from to lead this country and that we can't do better than this idiot is very disappointing.

I agree. But after seeing what they did to Kavanaugh I don't know how well a knight in shinning armor would hold up to the pressure. Politics has always been ugly but at least in my memory it was somewhat civil. They dems aren't holding back anymore. They have taken the gloves off. In this age of instant communication it is a totally different ballgame than any previous presidential election.

Yes, but the rest of the world doesn't ignore CNN and they think CNN is indicative of what America is.

The problem is how you quantify a "good" president. No president beyond George Washington is agreed by everyone to be a great president.

John Adams? Kept us out of a war we couldn't win against the British or the French at the expense of violating the First Amendment
Thomas Jefferson? Arguably unconstitutionally doubled the size of the country
James Madison? War of 1812: we won the war after it ended
James K. Polk? Expanded the country and slavery
Lincoln? Slight conflict called the "Civil War" that resulted in a massive expansion of the Federal government and suppression of various basic civil rights
    TR? Raging progressive
Coolidge? We love him, Democrats don't acknowledge his existence
FDR? Collaborated with Stalin and is responsible for a lot of the original New Deal socialism we currently have (including NFA 34)
Eisenhower? You know, I think Ike qualifies as a great President. I can't think of anything bad to say about Ike as a President except that we had a recession late in his presidency
JFK? Too short of a presidency to really evaluate
Reagan? Not the best for 2A rights yet he "won" the Cold War. But Dems would never acknowledge that

With Trump, we have an excellent economy, we're not involved in any wars, and he's doing the best he can with the legislature he has. In comparison to Reagan's 2A violations, Trump is a 2A supporter. Let's see what happens when he has another term.

At this point, to me a great President would do five things:

    1. Reduce the size of government.

    2. Set a plan in motion to reduce debt over a certain period of time. 50 years, 70 years ... something that cant be reversed. This BS of increasing the debt ceiling every few months will not end well.

    3. Stop f***ing around with peoples rights. I would tolerate someone thet just doesnt add any new laws. Maybe get rid of some, but definitely dont push for more sh*t.

    4. Cut the sh*t with all the politics and enforce the immigration laws.

    5. Get the government out of giving people loans to study. Like 100% out. No loans. Period. Watch the costs go down drastically. Take that opportunity to eliminate whatever agency manages that and start reducing the size of the gov.

I know, all that is way too much to ask in today's world and with a bunch of career politicians.

But with the economy doing so well, right now would be the time to start downsizing the government. It needs to stop being an inefficient welfare machine.

    I totally agree.

To be precise, due process is 5A. 4A is the bar on unreasonable searches and seizures. Though there's a high degree of interrelation.

Have you lost some guns? I have all of mine and my nephew just got his LTC Saturday and now has his first firearm. This would not have happened under Hillary's reign of terror. Some people are never satisfied. Focus your dislike on healy. Your time will be better spent.

    Great post!

Allow me to add a wish for us to stop participating in some countries' defense budgets. We should keep our military at home unless we are attacked.

I would love to see all your 5 points implemented! [cheers][thumbsup]

    Congratulations to your nephew.
I think I am done with this thread; I have been misrepresented, and lies have been leveled against me. Neither the left nor the right is exempt from hypocrisy, poor judgment, or untruths, and, as I have always done, I will not grant a politician a pass because of a -[x] letter that comes after their name.

I do find it amusing that in the same day I have been called a communist and a Russian bot (for calling someone out on a different site for spreading a fake anti-Trump quote).

You're not wrong about that. President Trump is far from the ideal 2A President. But then humanity is far from the ideal species and you just do what you can with the cards you're dealt.

I've been spanked hard by the modocracy for stating Trump is not Hillary, but then again Trump is still not Hillary and you will nevah NEVAH get the ideal candidate you dream of in the rest of your natural life in the FUSA.

The futuristic presidential model was just tested in the Ukraine and it did pass. I am not just playing the president on your television, from now on I am your actual president! [wave]

Epic. Makes President Trump's campaign look like the model of political conservatism.

"Last year, the production company behind Servant of the People, Kvartal 95, registered a political party by the same name and nominated the show’s lead actor, comedian Volodymyr Zelensky, for the presidency. Political observers largely regarded his candidacy as a publicity stunt, and in truth, Zelensky did much to encourage that point of view. In lieu of participating in debates, he held large rallies that reportedly felt more like comedy shows than campaign events (he also charged an entrance fee). But on April 21, life imitated primetime, and Zelensky walked away with 73 percent of the vote (an even higher margin than his TV character’s win), beating out the incumbent Petro Poroshenko. As Zelensky has no prior political experience and largely avoided discussing policy during his campaign, it’s difficult to predict what his presidency might look like."

The comedy is on. Putin did not congratulate Zelensky and announced that Ukrainians can get Russian passports. Comedian replied that Russians can get Ukrainian passports now.......Why do I have a nagging feeling that somehow WE will end up paying for this comedy?
