The prices you guys are charging for guns/ammo is absolute extortion

Yeah, OP has a few WTB threads posted in just the last couple of weeks.

WTB Colt Python
WTB Sig P226 MK 25 and Sig M11
WTB Colt preban lower
WTB Colt R6550 A2 PRE BAN
WTB M203 Quadrant Sight
And he's apparently shopping for an M203 Grenade Launcher

Save up for a couple months for a barely decent pre ban, and that's if you have a GOOD job.

Let me guess. India based?

30 years ago, I was selling my car. It was 2 yrs old but DID NOT HAVE A/C. I spent one Summer in the Boston area and decided that A/C was a necessity. So I bought another car and was selling this on my own.

I have this girl who put $ down on it. It's hers. Then I get this call from this asian guy. HEAVY accent. H-E-A-V-Y. Wants to come see it. 4 guys show up. Only 2 speak English. I tell them teh story - that it's already sold but if they want to make a secondary offer. . . . They take it for a test drive (with me in the back).

We come back. Let's say I was asking $5,000. "I give you $2,000 today."

You don't understand. It's already sold. She's coming tomorrow to pick it up.

"OK, 2500."

IT'S SOLD! I told you that on teh phone and twice before you even test drove it.

"$3,500. Final offer!"

It's sold for FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS tomorrow. Why would I give it to you for less than that???

They nodded and left.

I was irate at the time. But then realized this is how negotiation went in their country-of-origin. He makes an outrageous statement. I make a similar one and we meet in teh middle. The problem was my outrageous statement (it's sold for 5K) was the truth. LOL. In reality, I think they had no idea what the car was worth. That was unimportant. They probably had 3500 to spend and were trying to get a car for that. You don't go looking for a 3500 car with 3500. You look at 5-6K. At least in their country. LOL

I sell my ammo for what I paid but in this market people can make a ton more

Same.
I've sold some 7.62x39 and 30-06 for what I paid or less in the last year.
I don't have guns in those cartridges anymore and want to pay it forward to other shooters. I've also taken 2 new shooters out to the range on my dime, one (my neighbor) twice.

You can sit tight and wait for prices to come down, or accept that you are over paying and move on.

Bitching about it won't get you much sympathy.

There is also risk. Buyers seem to expect that "cost plus reasonable markup" determines price in a rising market, but "market price" rules when the market is falling and the dealer has inventory purchased at a significantly higher price than replacement cost.

I bet you're fun at parties [smile]
Wanted to emphasize .40 S&W is a short round….

FYI the German word for a female Medevac pilot is “Rettungshubshrauberfliegerin.” The word for fog light is “Nebelscheinwerfer.” And top speed is “Hochgeschwindigkeit.” While short is “kurz.”

Sadly, we live in a society that blames everyone else for their troubles. Nothing is ever our fault. If you don't have enough guns or ammo you can always blame someone else for that. You waited for 20 years to get your LTC but now you can't afford any guns or ammo. I guess that's someone else's fault too. Not enough toilet paper during the pandemic, that can't be your fault, can it? Here on NES you get fair market prices, better than almost any local gun shop in Massachusetts. Gun shops that are selling beat-up 2nd generation Glocks for almost a thousand bucks, while you can get a newer 5th generation Glock for less than that here on NES. That's not what I call extortion, that's what I call a bargain! If eight years of Obama has taught us anything, it's to be prepared for situations like this. Are you prepared for what's coming in the days ahead? if not, then whose fault is that, ours or yours?

Y'all act like OP's asking for price regulation or subsidized firearms. What's wrong with calling out the greedy price gougers?
What's wrong is its kinda socialist bs. Lazy Rubes are always going to get taken. The older i get the less i care. The sooner the dumbasses wallets are empty in market the better it is for the rest of us. I want lazy people to get punished.

Also who gets to define what level of profit is ok and what is "greedy" ? thats a dangerous road of socialism. It's also kind of funny because in a few weeks a statistically significant number of the price whining bitches on NES (I'm not talking about you, btw, because you're not a whiner!) will be up to NH to buy fireworks at 200%+ markup or worse, but somehow nobody has a problem dropping 500-1000 bucks for 100 bucks worth of Chinese crap they will literally set on fire... but when some flipper or odd dealer does 100% on a gun everyone loses their collective minds... [rofl]

I don't even like flipper culture, it's generally dumb. I think it's faggotry driven by those stupid house flipper shows. But 99% of the people taken by those guys are rubes. When they get sick of getting boned they'll invest time to learn stuff and plan their buys instead of armflapping.

Bear in mind 80% of these people are buying guns they'll never shoot again. If your concern is good newbs are being driven away, reach out to them privately and give them some tutelage. I find most enthusiastic new owners (as opposed to the irrational armflappers) are eager to learn and appreciative of help. I took one of my IT customers shooting this past week and hooked him up on a good deal on a Sig. With very little time invested, he knows what the deal is.

Fireworks are legal in Georgia. We set them off in the streets in our neighborhood. The dogs get upset and my buddy Shawn down the street doubles up on his ear protection, (he's got PTSD).

Coming from Connecticut where it's legal to buy sparklers and just about nothing else - it was a shock to me to be able to stop on the corner at a temporary tent and buy commercial grade fireworks. Just like guns/mags; getting used to living in a free state...

I took one of my wife's friends to the range three weekends in a row. She had some familiarity with firearms - but not as much as she said she had. Ran through probably 150 rounds of .380 and couple hundred of .22. Sold her a Sig P232 and a couple boxes of ammo for a fair price after we were done.

The old model BlackHawk is a deal. Send it back to Ruger for the transfer bar safety upgrade and they will replace all the missing parts, maybe even reblue it for you.
In the only. Pic I saw, that was a two screw, not a three screw, hence its the newer configuration and no "upgrade" available.

I'm sorry but I have a hard time feeling bad for people that bitch about gun prices on their $1200 phone or $3000 mac book. OP said... " I just spent 15K on bit coin", and likely has $200 head phones for his $800 game console.
We all spend money on what's important to us. Either you want the f***ing thing or you don't. Because even years ago, when I paid $150 for a Mossy 500 and $100 bucks on ammo, at the time, there were other things to spend money on.
There is always something expensive looming. Kids, house, vehicles, retirement. Every gun owner on this board made a decision and assigned a priority to the purchase of their firearms, ammo, training, club memberships etc. We all have bills to pay.
You may view gun ownership as a cool hobby, a social and sporting event or an integral part of home defense and personal security, maybe a combination of all of those. But I also view it as a personal responsibility to be prepared for what may come, and mostly for what I haven't even considered may come.
Yes, firearms and ammo are more expensive now, and likely to get worse. But so is everything else. That trip to Disney, golf outing, new vehicle, are all more than a year ago. But if you think about it, there are usually ways to shift expenses to cover what is important. I was spending $6 a day at Dunks on coffee. It was a ritual. I got sick of wasting money on nasty coffee and bought a machine for my office, $1.00 a day. That's about a box of ammo a week.
Most people drop 3-$5k a year on vacation. Skip it for one year, and you are well on your way to a nice gun collection.

If I had one piece of advice to give to a new gun owner on a budget, it would be airsoft. Yes, airsoft. Sig makes very realistic airsoft versions of some of their most popular firearms, with realistic trigger pulls, and weight, that are very affordable and will allow you to train for pennies per shot. Buy a 320 and an airsoft 320 to train with. Buy a MCX and an airsoft clone. Total cost about $3k and with some training and practice you can become pretty skilled. Yes, you still need to shoot some real ammo, but a lot less.
Only you can decide where your spending priorities are.

Yup. I have an airsoft G19 and AR. I have 1000s of reps in for fraction of penny per round lol.

Obligatory.... is she hot?

Too funny. I wanted fireworks when I was in MA. Now that I can buy them anywhere, anytime, my reaction is meh. [rofl]

Kudos on supporting a new shooter.

When I was 14 and living in Argentina, we would walk up to a small store and buy fireworks.

Over there they have these tiny stores, they are like mini convenience stores with a window facing out, its like an ATM, but a person works there. You walk up to the window, point at what you want and they sell it. They basically have everything you find on the counter or behind a counter at a gas station here.

Anyway, they also sold fireworks and no one cared we were kids. It was awssome.

Good advice. There are decent options in pellet rifles / pistols as well. Mrs. Mountain gave me a Springfield M1A pellet rifle to practice offhand. Weighs 9 lbs, wood stock & same dimensions as the real one. Wish it had a 2-stage trigger, but works well enough and my offhand scores have climbed since using it. If I want to subscribe to the equivalent ammo cost since using it, it's paid for itself at least twice already.
And there are some here who giggle at me practicing with my Daisy

JFC he picked everything that pretty much was getting a premium before 2020?
OP probably want Lapua Match 223 for under $1 round also?
