Oh, there are definitely guidelines. But the feds don't control the elections, so the challenges come in the state courts. And the clock is ticking!Well that sucks. I thought states could control certain aspects of the way they do elections but was under the impression that the fed provides certain guidelines, ie. the first Tuesday of November following the first Monday, the state legislatures decide the how and where not secretaries of state or board of canvassers. So it seems like we live in a time where these states can just straight up do what ever they want and those in the federal government accept it as is. This is only gonna get worse then. The very liberal states have figured out they can mail in all kinds of ballots and the people of those states along with the federal government officials have to deal with it.
Remember, there's a reason the Founders set things up this way. It sucks here and now for Trump, but it's better than the alternative in the long run. I think it's very unfortunate he didn't try to reach out to just a few more voters. If Trump had been a little more palatable, he'd have won the election going away.
