Do you have a better argument than "because they are brown" as to why the gov should have no idea who the non-citizens are in the country?
I never said the government shouldn't have that idea. I have a problem with the blatant drag net while everyone pretends it's not that.

Just like the All Mighty (R) Chief Justice himself said, it's politically motivated. Which it is. And not only that it sets precedents that people who like liberty shouldn't be rooting for.

I'm rooting for representation/districting for only US citizens. I can see how people would see that as politically motivated. Because it is. It's an important question that isnt being asked. Not asking abuses the system in place by not asking it. Nothing self incriminating about it, unless a person lies on the form. Might as well skip it altogether if the data is junk

Am I the only one who thinks Omar just used Trump for publicity? Before this, she's nobody. No one will know much about her, but she picked up a fight with Trump, who is an idiot. Now she's the face of Democrats, who are usually idiots as well. Trump gained nothing, Democrats gained nothing because most Americans won't side with her. Therefore, she's the only winner here.

Sometimes I wonder what's going through his mind. Punching down is stupid, no matter how proud you are to be a "counter puncher." Which advisor said, "hey, let's have every nightly news program start with Trump proves again he's racist." I'm guessing none of them. He's not Hillary, but he's still an idiot. Yet, I'll vote for him again.

Most presidents have surrogates who will do the punching down for them. Trump lacks those.

If you're just getting home leave your TV off for an hour or two. The 4-freshman women of color representatives are on EVERY f'in channel bitching about the 'occupant of the White House'. This shit is getting comical, sad and coming to a head.

I'm wondering if Trump wading into this is a calculated political play designed to take heat from the 4 freshman morons off of Pelosi. In turn she will help get the debt ceiling raised before the end of this Congressional session. I read that mnuchen was in close contact with pelosi because the debt ceiling needs to be raised before they actually leave for the summer. Earlier than usual because revenues are down due to the tax cuts

Trump loves a fight and he is king instigator. This will further divide the Dems as these 4 cry out how the old guard is working with such a blatant racist.
unfortunately I heard (via NPR so could be biased) that this has actually galvanized the dems. The dems have been doing a good job of eating their own and now they have something to come together about.
I agree with what he was "trying" to say but he didn't convey it properly.

Well NPR is hardly unbiased, this probably comes from the D leadership, they need to get the lemmings to start believing they are all together.

Pelosi was trying to bring the fab 4 to heel over the weekend and now she is stuck with them as the face of the party. Trump trolled Pelosi and the DNC leadership into exactly the position they were desperately trying to avoid. They created monsters, the monsters turned on their creators, and now Trump has prevented their creators from putting them into a cage.

The government doesn't care about the law and they dont need a census to give them more data on us serfs. Google, Facebook, Twitter, youtube, etc already give them all the info they could ever want or need on their serfs.
Do you drive? Do you have a job? Do you receive any benefits from the government? Do you have a bank account? Do you have healthcare insurance? And yes, do you have any social media accounts?

If you answered yes to at least one of those things then the government knows everything they care to about you.

If you answered yes to more than one then they have a complete profile with confirming data points.

If you have social media (and this website counts for that answer) then they know more about you than you know yourself. Even knowing which memes we post tells them what our buttons or pain points are - what you care about - what you'll tolerate and what will push you over the edge.

And God help you if you ever answered one of those quizzes that tell you something cool about yourself (what movie star would YOU have dinner with?!) based on your answers. You just grouped yourself with other potential troublemakers.

You need a refresher on the constitution and amendments that we’ve passed.

It’s specifically says that for representation, only citizens are counted. This isn’t up for debate. It’s incredibly frustratingly to argue with folks like yourself.

And yes, you are correct. Since 2012, all laws passed by the house are null and void. There will have to Be a lot of shooting to sort that out though. But the fact remains that some states with huge illegal alien populations are exerting more power than they are entitled to.
Accounting for the Census Clause

The "Census clause" or sometimes called the "Enumeration clause" is found in Article I, 1, § 2, cl. 3 of Constitution. After taking into account the removal and additions that have occurred with later amendments, that clause reads as follows: "Representatives . . . shall be apportioned among the several States . . . according to their respective Numbers . . . . The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct." Further, Section 2 of the Fourteenth Amendment states that "Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed."

The Constitution uses the word "numbers" or "persons" -- not "citizens," or "legal residents," or "those lawfully present" as the authors suggest. Moreover, the Constitution wholly and explicitly empowers Congress to sort out the details. The express delegation of the responsibility to Congress makes it odd that part of their opinion piece casts Congress fulfilling its constitutional obligations to make the policy determinations guiding the census as a bad thing.

Please show me where it states "citizen"

And just FYI, asking if a person is a CITIZEN and having them answer NO does NOT mean they are here illegally. So the left getting their panties in a wad is all about the optics of appearing to care about those here illegally and "wanting to make them legal." The left would shit their pants of the right all of a sudden agreed to eliminate "illegal" status. They would no longer have that to beat the right with.

While Trump definitely motivated the Dems, and gave them a wake up call, their response has been to go way way left into Chairman Mao territory. That ain't gonna be work.

No but I trust it with the 30+ conservative states who can change the Constitution without Congress if enough of them want to.

I don't trust your so called "conservatives." How many times have we seen them cave in the last dozen years? EVEN WHEN THEY WERE IN CONTROL OF HOUSE SENATE AND PRESIDENCY?

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham called Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her allies 'a bunch of communists' who 'hate our own country'
"We all know AOC and this crowd are a bunch of communists," Graham said, using a nickname for Ocasio-Cortez. "They hate Israel, they hate our own country. Calling guards along our border, calling Border Patrol agents concentration-camp guards. They accuse people who support Israel of 'doing it for the Benjamins.' They're anti-Semitic. They're anti-America."

"I think they're American citizens duly-elected running on an agenda that is disgusting, that the American people will reject," Graham continued, mentioning support for government healthcare coverage for unauthorized immigrants and decriminalizing unauthorized border crossings.

When normally milquetoast Lindsey is in full woke mode you know shit is getting real.

14th amendment. Section 2.

Section 2.
Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice-President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age,* and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such State.

You’ll note the 14th amendment clearly indicates citizens are counted when apportioning the vote. A simple control-f search would have found it for you.

It’s quite plain. Later, we passed two more amendments, one giving women the right to vote. Women citizens. And another that lowered the voting age to 18. Non citizens do NOT count when apportioning representatives. Obama deliberately left the citizenship question off the census. In doing so, he allowed certain states, like CA and MA and likely a few others to have too many reps. CA is projected to lose at least one rep. If non citizens were backed out after counting, I think there’s a good chance CA would lose 2 reps. MA is projected to lose a rep after this next census.
