Trump needs Kim to behave (not test fire missiles) until after the 2020 election. No one wants to go to war. If you are locked in a cage with a mad dog you can either talk nicely to him until you can get the door open hoping he doesn't bite or you can kick him and be reasonably sure that he will bite. I agree that Kim will probably never denuclearize. I am sure he has read The Art of the Deal. He will play us against China and Russia any way he can.

I don't agree with that. He isn't paling around, he is talking to him and engaging him. You cant change a situation by ignoring it. Ignoring the NK dictator and his progeny is what the US has been doing since the end of the military actions on the Korean peninsula. We are still technically at war. Trump knows that doing the same thing, watching a whole country starve and live sub-human lives while hiding behind a false curtain of feigned virtue wont help the people of NK get out from under the yoke of oppression. The Leftists criticize Trump for trying a novel approach, while themselves trying to put the yoke of Communist/Socialist oppression on us which is quite ironic. If you have a better approach for a breakthrough with NK, outline it here. Trump has a very good sense about what people want and need, what harm could come out of talking beyond the hypocritical and disingenuous criticism of radical leftists?

Precisely. Trump understands that what needs to really happen is that the North and South need to make peace. It's not our country at all. He understands people, dealmaking and Asian culture very well. Walking from the deal in Hanoi was the right move. It also shamed Kim. He gave him an opportunity to restore honor and a way back to the negotiating table. He deserves the Nobel peace prize just for what he's accomplished so far

We have covered all concerns on a NK thread here on NES already. It is a very tough situation we are in over there. This situation was originally created by us, with our participation, so this is not something which grew on it's own. Please, find all details in the other thread.

Bill Clinton was also in NK, let's not forget it.
2009 imprisonment of American journalists by North Korea - Wikipedia

In politics you do everything you can before you risk lives of millions. What Our President is doing is something not everyone can or would like to do. He is not kissing butts. He is telling them (Iran, NK, Russia) that they can improve their current position if they will cooperate. At the same time our military is getting ready for the other alternative. There is nothing wrong with that!

Kim would give up his nukes if we would not screw Ukraine as we did. NK has very strong ties to Russia and they were darlings of the Soviet Union so they know how it will look like when they will give up their nukes. They will, though, make a deal. Our strategy should be status quo and waiting for NK to fold internally.

Dude, think why Bernie wants us to become Sweden. [slap]

Nobel Prize is a commie tool for few decades. Never trust people when they will tell you that your good intentions will be followed after you are gone! ;)

The payoff might be not having to send your kids or grandkids in there to fight and die .
That option is always on the table .
If blowing some smoke up the little turds skirt makes it so that doesn't have to happen, then why not ?
There are a few million South Koreans within artillery range alone of that nut.
We have a defense pact with them and if things go sideways , we're in it.

And that’s what the “don’t play nice let’s go to war” morons ignore. Within twenty minutes of Rocketboy ordering batteries released, how many tens of thousands in South Korea are dead? We have to respond to that with force. North Korea will launch their nukes with half-assed targeting and nav systems that will likely hit a random target. Maybe Japan? China? Russia? Who knows, but how will they react?

Military action against NK is almost guaranteed WW3. So why not negotiate in good faith? Any of you “I hate the president and I don’t care how many Americans die to prove how much I hate him” Communist waste of oxygen stain on humanity shitbags on your way to the recruiters office? Or is that too far from the safety of moms basement?

I've always been against embargoes and attempts to isolate countries because all you have done is created a captive audience for the dictatorship to control with no outside economic influence. Look at Cuba. Complete and utter debacle for decades. Hoping when the dictator dies that someone else doesn't just take up the mantle is retarded.

The whole lot of them need the masks ripped off so they can make their families proud as they are beaten with bike locks on chains like the college professor in California.

I see nothing wrong with the way Cuba was handled. You could have another CA or MA instead, if it would be the other way. Keep commies isolated as much as you can and do not risk lives of our soldiers. We are not an international police.

Justice Dept. reverses course on census citizenship question after Trump's tweet
I'm betting that everyone gets a long form census, no more short forms, to get around the hack district judge and be consistent with the SCotUS ruling.

Let's not forget Trump is also building up the military. Obama ignored n Korea like most other Presidents. President Trump is at least recognizing he is there. If the little shit does something stupid, I have no doubt we will destroy him. Why not try some negotiations first?

Is "Trump Derangement Syndrome" a Real Mental Condition?

It's not yet officially recognized as a disease, but it's become obvious to mental health professionals that there's something to look into.

I doubt it'll be CALLED Trump Derangement Syndrome, but it'll make it's way into the book. Telling a TDS sufferer that have Trump (anything) would result in immediate self immolation.
