The Myth That Australia's Gun Laws Reduced Gun Homicides

Over 20 years ago, when the Australian gun grab finished up, the politicians showed photos of a huge pile of long guns that had been "bought back". I did not see anything tricked-out or "tactical". Because the gun grab included pump shotguns and semiauto .22 rimfire rifles, I saw a huge number of Remington 870s, Mossberg 500s, Winchester Model 12s, Ithaca 37s, Ruger 10/22s, Marlin Glenfield Model 60s, etc. Wal-Mart guns with wood stocks and forends. These were the guns that made up the lion's share of those turned in. Actual effect on crime? Little to none! Aussies aren't any safer than they were before the ban.

My neighbor is from Australia .
She can tell you first hand that's a major crock of shit.
Person on person crime like home invasions shot way up.
It's comforting to know that there is an almost zero chance of getting shot when you kick a door in.
