The Myth of Big-Time Gun Trafficking

Gary Kleck is kryptonite to the antis because he used to be one. He's also a leftie, last I knew. Antis hate him because they can never refute any of his findings.

This article points out the quintessential problem with our criminal justice system, particularly here in MA.

Monitoring the behavior of businesses and law abiding citizens is barely scratching the surface of "the problem." (and trampling a lot of innocent people's rights in the process)

The problem, is that we have long been moving to liberal model of "property crime," being a victimless crime. People may not think that's what they are doing, but horse thievery (for example) used to be a capital offense and it used to be entirely acceptable to defend property with lethal force. Whether they think so or not, theft has been demoted to something only slightly worse than traffic offenses, as measured by the justice system's response to them.

As always, the problem is the criminals, not the crime.

So, rather than register, track, harass and generally infringe upon the rights of people who don't commit crime, how about we just say death penalty (or life in prison without the possibility of parole for weak willed among us), for stealing a firearm or possessing a stolen firearm?

How about we punish the criminals rather than everyone else?
