Texas authorities seized more than a dozen firearms and over 3,500 rounds of ammunition following the pursuit of a suspect who was believed to be heading to Mexico.

The short chase began around 7:30 p.m. Friday after a Texas Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a vehicle traveling in Hidalgo County, located on the border with Mexico, for a traffic violation, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said in a press release.

The trooper eventually stopped the vehicle near the city of La Joya and discovered 16 firearms and 3,520 rounds of ammunition inside.

The firearms seized included high-powered fully automatic rifles, shotguns, handguns and a .50 caliber rifle, the DPS said.

The driver was arrested and is facing weapons charges. The DPS said he was believed to be headed to Mexico.

"Everyday (sic), the @TxDPS is on the frontline to secure our border," Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted Saturday in response to the seizure.

it's a good thing that the feds weren't involved or they probably wouldn't have stopped him, or maybe they would have had another catch and release, so they could track the guns BS situation.

Democrats are back at it again. They must be trying to compete with the fast and furious movie franchise. Im a bit behind would this be the 2 fast 2 furious gun running program or the F&F Tokyo Drift one? Its hard to keep track

Yeah, but it looks like it’s just an ArmaLite AR-50A1 bolt action .50 BMG. He really should have had a Barrett or Serbu semi-auto.

What never fails to amaze me is that these idiots will drive around with contra-ban in their cars and then commit some stupid traffic violation that gets them stopped. And then, instead of just stopping and getting a ticket, they decide to run. Even if they saw the guns, this was Texas; he could have just said he was on the way to the range and the cops would have probably believed him.

Maybe he was going to take over Mexico and make it the 51st state. In that case, I'm glad he was stopped.

What are those muzzle devices on those first two weird looking carbines with the angled foregrips by the magwells? Right side charging and integrated stocks?

Muzzle devices, it appears. ;) Flash hider. Not likely a suppressor. Those appear to be 308. The wrong-side charging handle is dumb. I mean, if you're gonna have a charging handle, at least don't AK it and f your s all up.

What is that braced-pistol. At first it looks like a sub-Uzi or something. but the trigger guard is classically Glock. But the grip isn't. Ruger grip frame????

Never seen a muzzle device painted the same as the furniture. Seems silly when it will most likely get burnt/blasted off.
