any local folks have access to Rockwell hardness equipment?
I have purchased a batch of barrels for the builds and they were pretty cheap so that makes me a little uneasy.
what are those? factory seconds? failed inspection batch or whatever. seller claims IMI virgin surplus barrels but no markings, even for twist rate.
I'm in South-Eastern MA but will travel anywhere as far as central MA north or south.

I'd call a local machine shop or two and see if they can't help you. Your other alternative is to buy a set of files that can give you a general idea.

FYI: It's been a while since college, but I think you'll need a flat surface on the barrels to do a Rockwell hardness test.

There are correction values to factor in when checking hardness on a round surface. But it can be done.
