Tax Free Weekend Plans

I'm not planning on buying anything significant on tax free weekend. But I can understand some MA residents wanting to. Many people need to have things like appliances or furniture delivered, can't buy in NH and have it delivered to MA without paying MA tax. If I needed an appliance or furniture that needed to be delivered, this would provide a savings as long as the price is the same as any other time.

I would buy a used car. That way, this piece-of-shit state can't rob you of a 6.25% tax on the KBB value of the car. Why the hell do they get a cut? The government had ZERO part in the transaction!

Motor vehicles are exempted from tax free status. Because f*** you.

So... ALL these Mass businesses are supposed to reprogram their systems to not charge tax until $2500 on that day and then program them back again? That's crazy...

Just eliminate the sales tax and leave it at that. Starve the beast.

Larger businesses will just tell their IT department to make it happen on that days download when they open. Smaller ones will just hit a tax on/off toggle switch like they do when someone buys something tax exempt that is not programmed to their system, or if they have a tax exempt certificate.

Much better solution is to eliminate the tax and reduce the state budget accordingly.

$43,000,000,000. Really? We need to spend that much?

Not going to happen, even if we vote it out, they will override that because we don't really know what is good for the state after all.

I often advocate what's right, knowing full well it will never happen.

I think Shooting Supply in Westport is doing 10% off all guns on top of the tax free weekend, so there's a bit of extra incentive. Been thinking about getting a 22 rifle for cheap weekend plinking, so this might just be the time. They also at one point had Darkstorm fixed lowers which had made me raise an eyebrow in the past.

Typically large purchases are in NH. Most guns are bought online.

I have a truck and live a reasonable distance from NH. So, I rarely if ever do a large buy on tax free weekends.

Doing the kids room over with hardwood, and I need to paint the walls, so I will take advantage to buy the supplies down here this time.

Have my eye on a used gun. Which I need like a hole in the head. My wife is looking to update her iPhone at the Apple Store in Braintree. It will be agony. If I go with her I get a cocktail and lunch at Davios. Not sure it's worth it though.

If Massachusetts residents were smaht, they'd boycott this precious gift from their overlords and tell them to shove it that day. Then drive to NH and buy their shit.

But they won't.

They are already complaining that this “holiday” COSTS THEM 38 million.

Why would you not want to add to the crying if its something you need to buy?

I do agree that its retarded. People ignore 10-15percent sales all day long then go nutty for a 6.25% cut because they are fxcking the man. People that are buying just because are dumb

IIRC, cell phones aren't exempt. So make a trip to NH instead.

Thought it was services, but I'm no expert.

"The following do not qualify for the sales tax holiday exemption: all motor vehicles, motorboats, meals, telecommunications services, gas, steam, electricity, tobacco products and any single item whose price is in excess of $2,500."

Unsure how the state classifies buying a cell phone. Worth checking with the Apple store in that case.

Same here.
Why participate in the scraps the the socialists throw to us in in MA when every day is a sales tax holiday in NH? In addition there will be hordes pushing and shoving to get the sales tax discount in MA making it a hassle compared to NH.
Same here. We buy the bulk of our taxable goods in NH, including all firearms, ammo and accessories. We make it a complete day out as a family, including a nice dinner.

Ariens all the way no brainer 2 year extended warranty for a total of 5 years if you buy 8/16-8/25 and an additional $100.00 off.

edit: sold my 15 year old Ariens and will now have hand warmers

Grabbed an Ariens Deluxe 28" SHO for $1275 (OTD) with the 5 Year Extended Warranty which guarantees we'll be playing golf until February.

Ended up going to FS and getting an M&P 15-22 kit with the red dot scope. They had a great deal at 299. Wasn't too busy, only about 3 people ahead of me when I got there. Filled out the paperwork online the day before.

I needed about 30 Wood Dollies from Harbor Freight, so I waited until now to save $12. BFD.

I really want their $200 top tool 8-drawer tool chest, but no. Tho I checked it out - again - today. Dam it is nice.

If it drops during Black Friday events I'll bite.

My plan is to stay the hell out of stores....The sheeple will be a swarming for their penance. I can buy tax free whenever I want online...

I shopped at five today.

None seemed any busier than usual.

Tho I did see more cashiers on duty.

Otherwise it may have sucked.

Unlike last year EBay and Amazon aren't charging Mass tax this weekend as far as I can tell.

I needed a bathroom vanity & sink. Prime so no shipping. Tax free whatever so no tax. Smiled gently on COMM2A as the COMM2A shopping link no longer benefits them.

I expected somewhat of a shxt show......but it was actually better than usual.

My plan was to hit HD early, I had to dump the old carpet at my club dumpster, and stopped and shot the shxt at my local convience store......so I was late. Honestly, got there at 9am and the store was not that busy, and two HD personell actually helped me load the flooring. AMAZING! Only one person in line ahead of me, which is less than normal. Paid for the whole room of hardwood and some other stuff. Took no more than 1/2 hour in and out.

WM was right next door and the parking lot was fairly empty, so I went there to stock up on some auto supplies, and paper goods I will be using. Took another 15 minutes.

Got some cheap gas on the way home in the Dirty Burg........Probably saved a hundo doing things today, and really nothing out of the ordinary.
