Anyone have any plans for major purchases this weekend? Firearms related or otherwise?

If so, what?

Why participate in the scraps the the socialists throw to us in in MA when every day is a sales tax holiday in NH? In addition there will be hordes pushing and shoving to get the sales tax discount in MA making it a hassle compared to NH.

To support your LGS struggling to survive in this state.

I want to buy a long gun but blew my disposable cash on gold and silver. Hate to use a credit card

If Massachusetts residents were smaht, they'd boycott this precious gift from their overlords and tell them to shove it that day. Then drive to NH and buy their shit.

But they won't.

I don't see how that'll help anything. It won't change the government and it punishes your fellow Mass inmates.

I would buy a used car. That way, this piece-of-shit state can't rob you of a 6.25% tax on the KBB value of the car. Why the hell do they get a cut? The government had ZERO part in the transaction!

When three guys in masks rob a bank do you ask them why they get a cut of the bank's money? No, you just give them the finger and move on.

Some places (MFS) let you order online, others let you order this week and pick up next week, no need to be available on the weekend.
Good point.

But "tax free" should mean all taxes are not implemented that weekend. Income, sales, breathing, eating, whatever other taxes are out there. But I digress.

An inmate uprising could work if all of the inmates were in on it. Unfortunately, the vast majority of inmates are happy accepting their weekend crumbs from Bacon Hill.

I had enough and escaped years ago.

So all the high mark up stores ( furniture, etc) are advertising double tax savings.... big deal the Commonwealth is tossing in 6.25%, the store the other 6.25%, on items with 100% markup.... that will be on sale next weekend for less money including the tax.

This 6.25% the retailer is kicking in does not meet the criteria for calling it a "sale" under MA law if the item is under $200.00
.
"For the term “sale” to be used in an ad when the actual savings are not stated, the law requires the savings to be at least 10% for items regularly priced $200 or less, and at least 5% for items over $200. "

This whole thing is a scam..... another reason to live in NH.... OH BTW if you buy stuff in NH and bring it back to MA you are supposed to pay 6.25% use tax on it, remitted on your MA state tax return

I give my accountant a ledger detailing exactly what and where I spent and whether it was business or personal (receipts scanned and attached). I would assume he calculates owed use tax on anything I bought in another state and includes it in the tax return. I wouldn't know. I just sign where he points.

I buy all my ammo from TSA tax free and all my guns from an online dealer who split ships the frame from the slide so I avoid tax there too. All gun sales are tax free for me anyway...

Thus is really a ploy by the state to lure shoppers from RI, CT, NY & VT to Mass for the weekend, Mass gets their cut through the business taxes levied on the retailers increased revenue.

Every weekend is tax free in NH!

I hear ya', that's one reason I moved here.
However, I'll be taking advantage of a different free weekend, no non-resident ATV registration needed in Maine for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That's a savings of $91 for me. I'll take it. Thanks.

I'm going fishing. What is wrong with my life is that when I want something, I usually buy it. Tax free weekend??? I never make it b/c I forget.

I could use it next year if my SIL comes home at the right time and we buy the new boat. The boat is probably exempt, but the accessories will run me about what the max is on the sales tax. Add his 5-10% discount for active military and I'm a happy camper.

But I'm sure it won't work out that way. He'll be in at the wrong time. Reality is it's a hundred or two or so saved. BFD. The military discount will mean a TON more.
