Target bill held up.

WTF!?!

A simple token gesture and we still get screwed. [angry]

I have 8 more years to go before retirement and I'm gone from this idioticity.

It'll be really nice when the 2010 census takes place and confirms the numbers of people fleeing this shithole. At best, MA will lose at least 2 representatives in Congress. At least we'll spare infecting the rest of the country from the liberal gun-grabbing s**t-stains.

I saw a projection recently that California is also likely to loose 2-3 seats, with places like Arizona and Nevada picking up several. The only downside is that a lot of those people will bring their socialist/statist attitudes with them and try their best to turn their new home states into the sort of places they just left. [angry2]

Unless they are leaving becasue of the socialist/statist attitudes.

People may leave because Kennedy/Kerry are too far to the left but still vote Democrat in their new home as long as the democrat is closer to the center.

People may still leave because their taxes are too high, and then vote for property taxes to be raised to pay for their kids desired after school activities.

People may leave because the gun laws are too crazy, and then feel they are too lax in their new home.

Vast numbers of folks leaving here are NOT doing it because of gun laws. We are in a very small minority of PRM subjects.

My bet (no time to check it out now) is that Reilly didn't get his way to micro-manage the target gun list, so he pulled some back-room politics to get it stuffed in committee until it dies a natural death at the end of the month (end of legislative session and all bills not acted on die).

We get to start all over again in Nov/Dec with new folks in office!! [rolleyes]

I don't like the fact that college kids can come to NH and vote here in our state elections even though they're not residents. I'm thinking this is probably how Lynch got into office.

On a side note, it kind of looks like Southern NH has been annexed by Mass. Nashua and to a lesser extent Manchester seem to have become bedroom communities for Boston. That's sad considering the amount of manufacturing and industry that used to take place here.

Nashua's been one of the worst cities in Massachusetts at least since the mid 80's.

Agreed, but still light years better than Lowell (where my sister is moving to) and Lawrence.

You're always welcome up here in NH Pete, we can use some more voices to counter the few liberals we have here.

I've been working on my wife to get her to move a little further north. I'll get there eventually. I'm actually hoping to get out of New England within the next 10 years. Off to a place that has consistant weather...

Your right of course, I was being optimistic?

I sometimes think I'll move north a bit, where I'm less in the minority.

Just had a conversation with Jim Wallace (GOAL) about this.

Mumbles Menino is responsible for holding up this bill. He/Boston has tremendous political clout and thus this bill is most likely dead!

A week from Friday the legislative session ends, and then we start from ground zero all over again next year!

Welcome to the way "back room politics" really works!

Heard from Rep. Peterson yesterday who said he's looking into this later in the week and is going to try to move it forward. Let's hope back-room politics works in our favor.

Everyone needs to contact your Rep's and Senators (in some cases that means contacting them again), as well as the leaders for both houses and push for the bill to be released and passed.

Of course the target bill is being held up, the MA political machine has more pressing issues to debate...

(note who the head obstructionist is)

"A Fluffernutter war has begun in the Massachusetts Legislature.

Countering a state senator's attempt to limit servings of Marshmallow Fluff in schools, a state representative said yesterday she would file her own bill to make the Fluffernutter the state's official sandwich. A Fluffernutter is a peanut butter and Fluff sandwich.

State Representative Kathi-Anne Reinstein said Senator Jarrett T. Barrios has taken a ridiculous tack by going after the popular gooey snack. Marshmallow Fluff was invented by a Massachusetts man and is still produced in Lynn, part of Reinstein's district.

Barrios, outraged that his son was served a Fluffernutter for lunch at his Cambridge elementary school, proposed an amendment to a junk food bill, calling for limiting the serving of Fluff to once a week in schools statewide"...

Jon,

Neither did I!

Another case of immaculate conception! Now that is one scary thought . . . especially if you have ever met or talked with this turd (regrettably, I have)!

What do you expect from someone who doesn't have anything but fluffenutter between his ears. Try talking to him and you'll walk away with a migraine!

I don't know where you're talking about. I live in Newton about 1 mile from the Mass. line and it's a whole different world over the line. No town or city has been "annexed". New Hampshire laws and the State Constitution keep any of those liberal morons in check. I have friends that live in Nashua and it is a New Hampshire city, believe me. It's the mentality that's the difference. In New Hampshire, the state reps believe in putting the people before the government. You're not a state rep for gain up here when you get a mere financial stipend for the work you do. it's considered a part time job.
A family of liberals moved across the street from my F&G Club a while back. They didn't like the noise, so they were determined to shut down the club that's been there over a hundred years. Know what the result of their campaign and a lot of their spent money was? They were told if they didn't like it, to get the Hell out. They sold.
You think Southern New Hampshire is bad? I don't have to get a license to buy or carry a gun, OPENLY. I can walk into a shopping mall carrying openly. A license to carry a gun concealed is $10.00 for four years and MUST be issued within seven days. I don't have to worry about being prosecuted for using deadly force in my home, on my property, or elsewhere. No one has ever been prosecuted. And, oh yeah, I can buy fireworks, legally and celebrate the Independence of my Nation, all within a mile of the Mass. border.
Can YOU do these things, and enjoy my Rights in the Communist Republik of Mass?

The big flaw with NH is reliance on property tas as the primary revenue generation machine, making it an impractical retirement destination.

NH property tax

Yeah, but no income tax, sales tax, excise tax, no water and sewer tax, whether you're connected to the system or not. And even if the taxes evened out in both states, the quality of life over the line is like another world. People are friendly and polite, they usually have a happy demeanor, the streets are plowed correctly, and the police and government leave you alone, and don't interfere with your rights. It's no surprise that for the last several years New Hampshire has been voted the #1 state in the country for the greatest amount of individual rights and liberties. You can't put a price on that.

I hear you brother. I'm saving my money. NH is most likely where I'm going to end up. MA sucks.

Looks like I was WRONG and legislative session officially ends at the end of July (not June as I had stated). This per The Outdoor Message.

I will check with Jim Wallace later this week to see if there is anything that we really can do to get this bill moving again or if it is truly DOA.
