I have to agree with you. It stinks of a hippie love fest. Might as well just have a drum circle and some stoners singing kumbaya... People died there. Lots of people. It's insulting to their memory.
Whoever came up with the idea needs to be asked this simple question: "If the most important person in your life was brutallly murdered would you want the world to know about how meaningful their life was or would you rather we just forget it and show a slideshow about racial tolerance?"
