Suggested file size for uploading photos

What is the max image file size or resolution for direct uploading? Is there an optimum spec?

The forum will take pretty much anything you throw at it.

Maximum resolution is 12MP, at 25MB/file. Anything higher than that will be compressed down.

I thought so. The last few times I tried to upload pics from my Samsung s5, and also my android tablet, the file name appeared with a line through it after the upload progress bar finished.
Shrunk a file way down, to around 800x600, and then worked normally.. had no issues previously at 5312x2988.

I actually just increased the allowed resolution today after you mentioned it - it was previously set to something along the lines of 1024x1024.
