I'm going to be ordering some 147gr TC bullets intended for loading subsonic 9mm for use in a suppressor I'm waiting on the paperwork for. In the meantime I thought I'd get my load worked out so I'm ready to go when the approval comes in. My question is what fps is definitely subsonic; some say 950-1,000, others say anything under 1,100. I use W231 for most of my pistol loads and would like to continue to in my 147gr load; does anyone have a favorite subsonic load with this powder? My manuals have data for this bullet + fps at the max load, but I don't have a chronograph to verify loads in between, so I'd appreciate some confirmations from those who do on what works.

My IDPA load is 147gn, with 3.6gn of Accurate #2. Roughly 890fps.

I didn't say it was useful for anything but passing power factor, but it IS sub-sonic. REALLY sub-sonic.

I like 3.2 WST or 3.7* Solo 1000 (*you have to work solo up with a chrono, it varies a ton from lot to lot) with 147 coated bullets. Both are about 915fps. Paging eisenhow for W231 data.

polycoated 147gr truncated cone. Loaded short (1.105" due to funky bullet profile). 3.5gr W231/HP-38 avg'd ~930 fps
