Sub2000, anybody got one? Reliability over time?

OP seems like a draco pistol kind of guy
racist-thats-racist.gif

Nah but you're right. Draco attracts a unique buyer.

Keltec and reliability do not belong in the same sentence. Range toy.

This, it's a range toy. Period. That being said I have a Gen2 and have never had reliability issues with it.

Can confirm. Gen 1 has an absolutely awful trigger, but it's very reliable, even with those cheap ETS mags.

Idk how 9mm feels in them, but the .40 is brutal to shoot.

To the OP, if you want the lightest, smallest PCC, the Sub2k is it, but there are better PCC's out there that are much more fun to shoot.

Say what? I have a Gen2 .40 (I know, I know) but brutal to shoot? Huh? It's like shooting a .22 ffs.

You got a pad on the end of the stock? IDK how different the Gen 2 is, but Gen 1 is bare hard plastic with lots of ridges that tear right into your skin.

And I don't shoot none of that weak 180gr stuff, I'm a man and shoot the 165gr ouchies of pain.

I have whatever the Gen2 came with... I shoot whatever garbage range ammo I have left. I can't imagine any .40 factory ammo would make that much of a difference? Maybe carry your purse over your other shoulder if it's bothering you that much?

I have a GEN two with a flashlight mounted on it a bunch of pre-ban magazines and it all fits in a laptop case. I have a Midwest industries rotating optics mount that returns to zero every time. I shoot mine offhand out at 110 years and have hit plates pretty decently out to 200 yards and as bad as the trigger is it works itself in and has become very smooth, I’ve owned two of these rifles and I know exactly what it is and what it isn’t. as far as reliability goes though I’ve had two of them and put quite a few thousand rounds through them and I haven’t had one single malfunction. The cheek weld is awful until you put an optic that raises your head a little bit off the stock. I think for a deep cover pistol caliber rifle. It’s great simply because of the folding mechanism and reliability. It has strengths and weaknesses for sure but for a lightweight reliable rifle I’ve had two that have never failed.

I'd like to see the ballistics of a 7 inch barrel 7.62x39 vs a 9mm from a 16 inch barrel.

Both suck relative to a standard AR, but at least 9mm is cheap and most have a shit ton of it.
If you are concerned about ballistics from either of those guns, then you have no idea what you are doing.

The only part that could s*ck about a Draco is no good way to hold it. But neither are precision rifles, so who gives a f*ck.

Dracos are for people that know what they want. The OP doesn't know what he wants.

Best get a Chinese SKS then, everybody loves an Asian bitch they can ram their thumb into her tight slot for reloading.

I get. it, but I'm looking at it from point of view of actually shooting it. A sub2000 would rot in my safe, i already have a scorp which is infinitely better. I don't think they're junk, I just think that they're very "niche useful" and unless you really need that ability to fold the gun it's not worth buying. There certainly are dumber guns somebody could buy.

300 blackout sorta renders the whole debate moot IMO. I build a gun around the optic. Want a compact gun that can reach out to 300 yards with a red dot? Are you really gonna pick a 124 gr projectile making 350 ft lbs, or the 150 gr projectile making 1300 ft lbs?

Keep in mind if you put an ar pistol next to an mp5 they're about the same footprint.

There's also this wallhack that allows you to have a folding stick on an ar pistol if it's under a certain oal. The law folder is the standard, but I don't own one. Can't be fired collapsed, but they did recently come out with a captive buffer kit, which will convert you to a poverty mcx folding pistol. I wonder what the reliability is like.

Yes. I'll add the Sterling, the Gustaf M45, the Vector, and (maybe) the CMMG radial uppers.
+1 on CMMG radial.
These uppers shoot SO softly! CMMG Dissent Mk4 pistol is AMAZING! I've shot a 10" folder(they have a shorter one) one and it opened up my eyes. I've always considered 9mm rifles as a gimmicky. MP5, UZI, Kriss, Sub2K, MPX: I've shot them all and each and every one of them has some kind of negative.
  • MP5s guts haven't changed in over 50 years and still has feed issues with some ammo. it's crazy expensive too.
  • UZI can't shoot straight and is only usable as fully-auto which is not even an option anymore.
  • Kriss is a terrible shooter and feels junky.
  • Sub2K uses plastic in places where metal should be and has the highest number of guns blowing up than any other rifle.
  • MPX is great for competition and when they chopped it down to 6", it looses all the smoothness of the full-size MPX

CMMG Dissent took the lessons from all the 9mm rifles above and create something that solves all the problems of previous generations of 9mm platform:
  • Took roller blowback from mp5 which made mp5 such an smooth and iconic shooter
  • Made it fit an AR which makes it possible for anyone to own a smooth shooting 9mm without major investment in a new rifle.
  • CMMG started out as a maker of quality barrels. they know how to make precision shooting rifles
  • NO PLASTIC!
  • Unlike MPX, the smooth shooting does not go away as the barrel gets shorter. MPX owes its smoothness to its excellent purpose-designed muzzle break but the short version does not use the muzzle break, making shorty MPX a junky rifle

Getting a cheek weld on 1 of these while wearing shooting glasses and muffs is a PIA and the stock likes to rip out my beard hair. Other then that the thing is accurate as hell
That beard hair thing is brutal. I'm not exactly a viking but i shave once a week and i couldn't deal with that

Draco is 'almost' concealable to carry. and I do know what I want - I was asking about the S2K cause this looks like the perfect gun to fit the Rittenhouse needs to cross state lines and infiltrate an antifa rally without slinging an AR. Or an impromptu little Rooftop Korean SHTF situation, whipping one of these out of a little backpack gives you an advantage against bad guys with only handguns.

CMMG Dissent
i just built a 9mm cmmg dissent, 10.7", it is a very nice platform. zeroed it with pinty at 50yds, was a pleasure.
i wanted a PPC for a while, and this is a good design to own, and it is a cheapest way to get a pistol with a folding stock/brace.
i slowly think now of if it's worth to add a couple more, in 5.56 and 300blk into the set, as it works really well there and presumably all of them cycle well. but i got too many normal ARs now, so it is not too imperative. and as you have no legal ways to use suppressors here - kinda defeats the purpose.

you may need to beef up the design of the stock stopping plate, but, the sky is the limit of what can be done there, and let`s leave it at that. :)

let`s say, with that design you can carve a lower out of a wooden plank and still find a way for all that to function, which is pretty nice.

[rofl] [rofl]

Or, here is a crazy idea, don't be stupid and stay at home.

Good luck.

So I got one and kitted mine out with some grip tape cuts, electrical tape, and a Primary Arms little 20mm red dot on the Midwest ball bearing rotating mount. Electrical tape solves the pinching beard problems. Took to the range and the fuddy old RSO saw what I had and was like "dafuq is that??" Wiggled my red sight a little and laughed and basically told me no way in hell that was holding zero. Neat thing about the mount is if optic goes epic fail, swing it out of the way and you got your irons, but yeah it's not pleasant to twist your neck in and peep thru those. The Midwest T1 direct mount height is perfect.

I ran 300 rounds thru it without a hitch and dialed it in. Best I could do was just a little under an inch at 25 yards with the optic. I'm sure some of you NES snipers would laugh at 4 MOA but it's fine for me. Like someone said, I know what this is and what this gun isn't.

Not bad for something laptop briefcase sized that still classifies as a rifle. Really nothing else like it this light and short profile on the market, concealing 'bout two mac and cheeses, before S&W copied it. I'd trust this as a superior choice for a home defense gun over a pistol, esp for my wife who sucks at shooting even more than I do.
