The last time I shot I never cleaned it before putting it away. It's now been sitting unused since early December. So I am asking whether I should clean it before taking it out to the range, or shoot it dirty and just clean it afterwards?

Sr9, probably only has 200 rounds through since its last cleaning, but like I said, has been sitting for a few months
If its not a carry piece shoot it till it jams I say! That's my new routine other then maybe bore snake and simple wipe down.

all ways clean your gun, a clean gun is a happy gun.

Running an M4/M16 wet and dirty was always more reliable than clean as a whistle and "properly" lubed. Not all guns work their best when showroom clean.
Agree, my ARs are the same way. I'll boresnake the chamber every 200-300 rds and clean it well about every 2k.
I haven't really cleaned my M&P since I think Halloween
Just light oilin to keep it from rusting but no cleaning
As for my mosin I threw it in my cabinet after last time I went shooting. Haven't looked a it since so I don't know
But it's a peasants rifle it will be fine
