I was at the range today and picked up some reloading brass.
I was sorting and found about 20/.223's with strange grease rmarks.
I was just wondering how the brass got marked up so bad.
Thanks, Mike

I've been wondering this same questions for some time now. I just assumed they were machine gunned and I toss them in the scrap bucket (because the brass itself is ridged). Can anyone confirm?

Looks like the markings on a HK pistol from the gas retarded blowback system. Anyone know if they make the same system in rifle?

They are from a fluted chamber

This.

I forget where I saw them, but someone with a Century CETME had brass that was actually scored/perforated/coming apart because of (poorly machined, out of spec) chamber flutes.

Yes, HK 9X rifles do the same thing. It was probably an HK93 clone or one of its siblings.

Makes it easier for the casing to be extracted. Those rifles are roller delayed blowback.

This. 90% of the markings will come out with a good tumbling. And they can be reloaded, I did this for my .308 CETME many times with no issues.

Supermoto, that's a good picture.
