Strange Incident at MA Gun Club on 1/2/2021

I bet the LEO was offering the Ammo to the Gun Club to be raffled off,
all proceeds go to HKdrummer, I'm sure Tynan would appreciate it.

It wasn't intended to impress you - just a strange incident that happened. Besides never, when is the last time someone offered you 6 free cases of 5.56?
The story about the Jehovah's witnesses knocking on my door and offering me salvation was more impressive.

and what prevented those above mentioned members from escorting the guy to the club office, getting any officer, and accepting the ammo for storage at the club and providing a receipt?
as a gift it is not a licensed sale. nor a controlled substance. whole story is fully retarded and smells just like a typical usual MA BS.

I do understand all the criticism here of the gun club members, but I have slightly different perspective.

If someone offers you a deal that is too good to be true, then all of the usual proverbs apply. And if you can't figure out how they are going to come out ahead on the deal, then keep in mind that it is their deal, and they very likely know something that you don't.

Also, I have encountered some very sketchy people showing up unexpectedly and wanting to "get to know" people at the club. Hard to really know their motivations, but if someone sets off my spidey sense, then I trust it, and keep distance.

Receiving stolen property comes to mind.
If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. As well. Just saying.
That charge requires knowledge that the property was stolen or at least that a reasonable person would assume it was.

I would have thrown it in my truck.

The story about the Jehovah's witnesses knocking on my door and offering me salvation was more impressive.
Reminds me of when I was building a shed. Two Jehovah's come up and ask if we can talk? I said I had religion but had been thinking of Jesus because he was a carpenter and I could use help. I told them God sent me you two to help me build a shed. I was still laughing as they walked away.

Now if Jevovah's start offering free ammo I may convert.

And how many Ma. residents have had their lives and finances destroyed on trumped up phony gun charges? So you jamokes would also accept free a BJ from a good looking gal standing on the street corner?

The club members involved wouldn't have known it was legal ammo. It could have been stolen for all they knew.

Real simple, if you are going to be a paranoid freak:

1 - take ammo and thank the man profusely

2 - report to local LE that a man just donated a suspiciously large amount of ammo to the club, store ammo securely

3 - when the police indicate they know of no reason not to, shoot ammo and be happy

What transpired was an MA mindset thing, people are so oppressed they want someone to verify everything they are doing is legal.

I can't believe the dopes at the range called the frigging cops because someone was trying to give away a bunch of free ammo. "But he's scratching his truck!" [laugh] What crime is committed by taking it?

You must lead a sad life if JWs excite you! [laugh]

That is what the club president told the police chief. The club would have accepted the ammo once it was good to do so. i.e., the fed approached the club in a more professional manner. Caution was taken because people just don't give away 6 cases of ammo for gratis! And the club doesn't have a "club officer" at the club just sitting in the office all day.

So he was driving around with ammo and no ID to prove he could posses it?

And he showed up in a black truck and later in a white truck?

WTF?

What possible "sting" would such be?

I mean even if law enforcement offered you a free kilo of cocaine and you accepted it, still wouldn't hold up because free is basically the definition of entrapment. And we are talking legal ammo.

I feel bad for the guy, sounds like a good dude.
Yes. And in the meantime it will cost you:

Probably $100K+ to fight it in court.
Your name all over the news.
Your job.
Might lose your house due not being able to work.

Hey, but in the end you MIGHT, read that again MIGHT, win.

Do you belong to a club that has an officer on site 24/7?

Because I belong to 3 big clubs and none of them have officers there 24/7. In fact, I only see a club officer maybe 20% of the time I am there. if I stop going Sundays, that 20% will probably be 10%.

Clearly a couple of guys who don't subscribe to the notion of "being in the right place at the right time"

Had a guy show up at the club years ago looking to sell a case of 44 magnum, after 2 other guys tell him they didn't own 44 magnums I asked him how much he wanted for it.

The price was $50, I bought it, then bought a 44 magnum a week later so I could shoot said ammo.

Not the first time I bought ammo for a gun I had yet to own.

Stolen ammo.....and offered for free? Who steals shit to just give it away? If it was a crook that had stolen shit he wanted to get rid of wouldn't you think he'd have just ditched it in the woods vs drive to a public place to give it away?

Feds trying to give away ammo indicates I’d leave it alone.

when guns start failing, you’ll know it was intentionally bad ammo

double charges, primer only - squirrelly to me

I still don't understand what was going on. Why would a fed be giving ammo away?

Why would the PD first reject it and then keep it?

Why does the guy show up with one truck then with a different truck?

All this sounds sketchy AF.

I love all the NES "DONT CALL THE COPS. DONT TRUST COPS" ... but go ahead and accept free ammo from a sketchy AF cop. [rofl]

The guy is federal law enforcement and doesn't know anyone who will take a few cases of ammo? Not passing the sniff test. If it was an old woman getting ammo out of the house sure, a fed nfw. Same lot numbers were probably going to be used in a false flag shooting, they just needed some white supremacists' Trump supporters holding a couple cases to trace it back to...

He showed up with the different (work) truck so he could flash the lights to prove who he was, which he did.

The PD rejected the ammo because they don't need it for work and they probably are prohibited from taking it home.

If the ammo is shady you could probably figure it out by taking a close look at the boxes, examining the rounds, and maybe pulling some bullets. But what kind of lunatic is passing bad ammo around, not knowing who's going to be pulling the trigger? Isn't it more reasonable that the story holds water, i.e. a cop leaving or losing his job and thus his ability to legally keep and use the ammo (if he isn't otherwise licensed) so he wants to be a good dude and give it to guys who would actually use and appreciate it? Did he have cop hair? Poor bastard got the cops called on him by a bunch of chickenshits in response.

Right. Because this happens all the time, just like this. Not a day goes by that I don't read an article about someone trying to entrap someone by offering half a dozen cases of ammo.

And, what exactly would this "crime" be?
