PARKING INFO: There's a huge garage under Boston Common that has reasonable weekend rates. Entrance is on Charles St between the common and the public garden. As mentioned, there's also metered street parking on Newbury, Boylston, Charles, and throughout downtown.

I think we should all dress professionally and bring a tasteful and factually correct sign. I know this seems daunting, but we need to be heard. I wish GOAL/Comm2a would get involved here.

YES. The only reason im getting involved in this rally vs the others posted here is for those reasons exactly. Be the positive face of gun ownership!

So there is going to be a demonstration at the state capital on a Saturday when no one is around. No one in the state house will be working and Boston common is a ghost town on Saturday. So no one will know a handful of Gun people are going to be demonstrating in front of an empty building.

This is going to be embarrassing.

Just my .02

So you feel that people in the statehouse need to be present for them to bother to care? Do you think they would care? This is a national demonstration, and if it has enough people participating those who make decisions will know about it. Considinger ntnfancy is a youtube person, you can bet plenty of videos from across the nation will go viral. That's the point. No one thinks Patrick or Menino gives a crap. I think we're all beyond that illusion. This is supposed to be a united, national stand for our rights. A show of numbers.

Has anyone checked into permits and ordinances at the statehouse for this? I honestly don't know what they are, but it would be good to find out. Trolling websites now, but if anyone has already looked or knows that would be a good thing.

Yes, I know this is ridiculous and we should have the freedom of assembly, but this is Boston, something tells me it is not that easy.

From a Good PR point of view: IMO leave the Gadsden flag at home.
Gadsden to the MSM and Sheep who graze on Boston Common, Gadsden equals "tea party racist"
As for signs. A short and sweet soundbite would be best. "Gun owners are everyday people" or "Gun people are good people" "I'm Law abiding and I vote" etc

I'll be there provided its a respectable crowd. If I show up in the area and there are 20 people, not gonna stay.

Bad idea. If the third guy to show up says to himself "it's just two guys, I'm not staying to look foolish" then the crowd never gets past those first two guys because everyone is afraid to stand out. Goofy example used, but this TED talk makes the point well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V74AxCqOTvg

In short, if you come, stick it out even if it's only a handful of people so that you can help attract more so long as what's going on is legal and ethical and represents what you agree with. I'm going to check my schedule and see if I can clear some time to come down for this and I'll join in, regardless of the size of the group, so long as it's a stand-up event focused on the second amendment and not diluted a million other messages.

Though, I do have to question the wisdom of the timing of this on a Saturday when no one will be around.

I fear you are mostly right. I'm definitely showing up in the area, in case there is a decent turn out that I can add myself to but I'm worried this falls flat on its face.
Honestly, that's why it would fail, everyone feels that way.

If this is to be done, it needs to be done right, particularly in light of suitability and the way media treats gun owners, but fear of being alone isn't a sufficient reason to not go.

The Tea Party rally went just fine despite Gadsden and AR flags and plenty of people CCW'ing.

If everyone is just "in the area" no one will band together. We can establish a specific meeting place when it gets closer to the date. It isn't all that hard to call Fox News 25 or the like to get media coverage. That is providing we get a decent crowd.

Brief Overview

What I think is the permit for Boston.

Its a nation-wide event. Ramping up publicity via youtube and facebook Everyone should spread the word instead of bad-mouthing these rallies.
To say this is short notice is an understatement, but like anything political, it will happen or not because it happens or not.

There is nothing stopping it other than people's fear of being caught out from the herd.

5 confirmed. haha i thought this was a pro-gun forum? where is everyone? [thinking]

Because this guy is asking for a march on a date other than the FEBRUARY date we've already talked about.

http://www.northeastshooters.com/vb...-House-rally-for-the-2nd-amendment-the-answer

The other thread by HDdrummer doesn't even specify a date (yet).
http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/threads/185430-It-s-time-The-movement

You'll do yourself - all of us a lot more good if we move in force, as a LARGE group instead as 5 idiots showing up on the wrong day because some guy on YouTube, with a handful of followers told them to.

How about signs that read "I represent thousands of law abiding gun owners"?

-tapatalk and Devin McCourty blow chunks-

Sorry man. I know most people work Fridays and figured taking time off is not an option. Personally, I work Friday and Saturday overnights. I am willing to sacrifice my sleep or even vacation time if needed though.
