After months (literally) of waiting, I finally got the call that my LTC was ready for pickup. Having such a long wait (16 weeks) gave me plenty of time to window shop. I've had my heart set on (and have been squirling away money for) a Ruger MKIII Hunter and an SR9c. Four Seasons had the MKIII in stock at a great price, so I was thrilled to make my first purchase last Friday. The SR9c, however, seems to be out of stock everywhere. Is it typical for certian firearms to just be out of stock everywhere? Is it that the manufacturers (Ruger in this case) simply can't keep up with demand? Seems weird to me (although I'm not familiar with the industry) that any manufacturer of anything would allow inventories to run out without ramping up production...

I guess my bigger question is how/why does this happen in the firearm industry (supplies running out of particular models)?

But my more immediate question is, anyone know where (in MA) I can pick up a new SR9c with stainless slide?

Nope, not unusual at all. Some manufacturers will make a run of guns, then reconfigure the line to produce something else while selling the inventory that they've built of the first gun. If they sell out faster, then they've got a lag time while they're getting geared up to produce more of the first gun.

Just keep looking and you will probably find one. Start calling all the shops you can find. (and no, you can't have mine. [wink])

I am also looking for one - in all black. I emailed Carl as FS and they are expecting a shipment this week. I also emailed IDC in Clinton, and he was pretty sure they had some in stock. He was going to let me know on Tuesday when they opened up.

The price at FS ($399 cash) is fantastic. I am waiting to see what the price is at IDC. Both shops are about the same distance from my house, but I kind of want to take a ride down to IDC and check it out. I hear they are really nice guys.

Good luck.

I bought my SR9c at Bobs Gun and Archery in Webster. Not sure where you are located, but I bought mine there for $425. Four Seasons has it for $399 cash price, but for me to drive to Woburn and back, I wouldn't save anything. I was in Bob's last week and he had a couple if I recall correctly. Try him, he is a good guy to shoot the crap with as well.

I was in Four Seasons on Thursday looking for one, but they were all out. They told me that they would be getting a shipment some time this week and that they would give me a call when the shipment arrives.

Give C&F Guns a call, they usually have one. They are in Middleborough.

Thanks all! I'll follow up on these leads. I just realized the tax free weekend is coming up. Perhaps if FS gets them in this week I could pick one up for $399 out the door! (plus ammo and whatever else I MUST buy while i'm there, lol)

Thanks again.

It might not be $399.95 out the door (even on sales tax holiday weekend). The FS Guns website typically shows cash/check prices as being $10 less than the regular i.e. credit card prices, but in my experience what happens at the cash register is that they enter the credit card price and then a 2% discount is applied for cash/check payments on new firearms. This means the $409.95 gets discounted to $401.75, not $399.95.

Hmmm... their website specifically says $409 credit / $399.95 cash, so I would probably push them on it (out of principal). I suppose I wouldn't walk out the door over $1, but I also have to believe they would honor the advertised price.

+1 for IDC. Great place to shop, great to talk with. My friend just bought a sr9c there 2 weeks ago, and he did have a few in stock then.

FS is a good gun store, so in return I prefer to try to be a good customer and not make a big stink about a couple of bucks difference between the web posted price and the price at the register on a firearm purchase. It's still a good deal, obviously. The website does carry a disclaimer about the prices and other info not necessarily being accurate or up to date.

Excellent choice, id consider selling mine also but only for double the asking price [smile] I think id like another so I can duel wield them.

Give Northshore a call, they may be getting some in before the weekend and FS probably has a waiting list for the ones theyre getting. Even if you dont get one for less than 430$ youre still getting a great gun for a great price.

Bought one last week at Holliston Firearms, Holliston Ma. Mine is all black but he also has one with the stainless slide, $425 and you get a rewards card that earns you money with every purchase.

Undercover Arms in Hudson Ma had a like new used one, all black for $360.

I ended up getting a used SR9, full size, at FS today. It felt better in my hand than the compact.

While I was in line, there was a guy trading in his SR9c, all black.

I just bought mine at cf in middleboro. They had one more there with stainless slide.

The owner John showed me a great way to get the gun to feel like a full size in your hand. Buy a sr9 mag with a plastic extension and walla full size grip.

Can anyone comment about how the trigger pull is on SR9c. Does it have an external safety or a heavy 10 pound pull like the compliant M&P

For a factory gun under $400, it's excellent. Definitely NOT 10 lbs - much lighter and fairly smooth. And WAY superior to the LC9's trigger pull.

As said above the safety is ambi-external (also has the internal block, which is deactivated with the glock style split trigger). Trigger pull is very light, comparable to a M&P with the Apex trigger kit installed, and mine seems to be even better now that it is well broken in. Well over a thousand rounds without a single malfunction.

Do you have a link showing what these grips look like?

yes sir. I can do one better. Here are the photos of the "Granulate Texture" grips on my SR9c. I also ordered the Rubber texture ones as well. Only $10 a piece. got them in about 3 days. I love it. The grip is so much better with these on it. They are a little like sand paper, so your shirt gets snagged a little, but they can be smoothed down a bit if need be. Either way, I love the grips. I am glad Talon has finally done other guns besides Glock.

Trigger pull on mine is excellent. FYI, I had an issue with light strikes with mine. I figured out what was causing it. Some brass shavings were working there way into the firing pin channel. to remedy the situation, I use a can of compressed air to blow out the shavings using the hole designed for it. The first time I did it, there was about twenty pieces of brass in there.
