so at the end of this week my new Ruger sp101 Wiley Clapp edition is due to come in. one thing I know, is that ruger lets 5 year olds put the brushed finish on their sp's. does anybody have a picture of their polished sp101, or bead blasted. I am Not sure what I want to do to the finish, I am NOT normally a fan of polished Guns, but I think with white grips it would be sexy. any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

while not a ruger, i picked up a talo 629 two years ago with the same problem, brushed finish was crap from the factory. i had lou at business end bead blast it and the thing looks now the way it should have left the factory.

i liked it so much i had him do one of my favorite revolvers, a ruger speed six. i've had it for 35 years and it was used when i got it. this came out so well it looks new.

i know the light washes the markings on the guns out a little bit but they are very crisp on both. you need skill for this work and a light touch or you can end up with a mess.

no, don't carry either but i suspect the finishes would be durable. the smith sees a lot of range time, been handled and shot a lot. blasted finish holding up fine.
