I'm headed to Freetown MA for a meeting tomorrow. I will have a chance before I head to the Casino afterwords to hit a few gun shops.

So I checked out the Gun Map and there are quite a few that I could check out.

Question: Which of the following places below might have a chance of having 22LR Minimag (elusive Unicorn) Ammo or .380 Ammo in stock?? And which ones should I not even waste my time stopping at?

Flint Arms
Village Sports
Stricklands
Carrs
Crystal Rose
Baystate Trading Post
Pheasant Ridge

Follow up: Any I may be missing? I'll be coming down the pike to 495.

TIA
Paul

I cant speak to the others but definately hit Baystate Trading Post and unfortunately, Pheasant Ridge wont be open. I have tried to get inside for the last 2 years and every time I go by it is closed.

I dont know if Baystate Trading Post will have what your looking for but it is a nice clean shop run by a good guy.

Good luck at the casino!

Haven't been to them all but flint is overpriced. Bay state trading is nice. The owner is a really cool guy bu his ammo is overpriced too. I've heard terrible things about pheasant ridge but I've never been there.

I really don't mind overpriced if they have the stuff I'm looking for and are nice to deal with.

All gun shops for some reason have a penchant for really good owners or really jerk off owners. Again, don't mind spending my money with the good folks.

AFAIK Stricklands is no longer open,

I wouldn't bother with Carr either, it's a pretty low volume place, I stop in every few weeks and last i was in there there was no 22 or 380 ammo to be found at all.

If you don't mind paying a price for ammo that may be a little steep you may want to check Sportman Outfitters in Berkley. Little known shop, but the owner is a good guy and tends to have decent variety of ammo although not in large quantities. Easy to get to right of rt24

Flint Arms: Thumbs Down
Village Sports: Thumbs Up
Stricklands: Out of Business as far as I know.
Carrs: No Opinion
Crystal Rose: No Opinion
Baystate Trading Post: No Opinion
Pheasant Ridge: Big Thumbs down.

Village Gunsmith in No Dartmouth: Big Thumbs Up.

dont forget Sliver City Firearms in Taunton, he just got a huge pile of consignment guns in. no .380 ammo though....

Another +1 for this shop. Very reasonable prices and employees are approachable. They don't have the biggest selection in the world, but that's ok. Also, if you visit their website, you'll find a link to their updated long gun and hand gun inventory including prices, which I thought was neat.

Late to this thread but my 2 cents,

Eerything negative about Phaeasant Ridge is true in my opinion.

Been to Baystate once, nice people.

Carr's, nice folks, never have anything in inventory, shop is a cluttered disaster but I have walked in there a couple of times and found some nice used guns.

Flint Arms...Ehhh!

Village sports, no opinion, did buy a glock from them once.

Ephisian arms...Jury is still out but they seem like real nice people.

Silver City Firearms, nothing but good things to say about Jamie and his staff. they handled a bunch of consignments for me and they were fantastic.

I remember doing a transfer a few years ago at a very small shop in New Bedford I think, for the life of me I can't remember the name.

I do really miss Stricklands, you never knew what you would find in there.

Oh yea, Crystal Rose...More like a shed with a few guns in it. I think the owner just uses that as his storefront so he can have an FFL lol.

Is Ritchie's in Westport still open? I hear it was a nice place to go if you felt like getting insulted.

Late, but I go past pheasant ridge multiple times each week and they are never open. Bay state is nice owner, fair prices. Don't know about the rest. Ron

So it was last Sunday, wanted to visit an LGS that I hadn't before with a new shooter in tow.

It's Sunday so I know i'm limited and even though many here said to not waste time at Pheasant Ridge, I was in the area. I'm not going to bash the guy because he wasn't at all rude or being a dick, but I had the feeling he was waiting for us to leave so he could.

Had a good selection of guns, not sure on prices because even though he had something i told him i had been hunting for weeks, he couldn't be bothered to fetch it from "in the back".

Had a cool Sig Patrol Swat for $1150, i think that's reasonable.

Ammo was full retard at $36 for 50 9mm FMJ

I really wanted to spend money...

Next time i'll make sure Bay State is open before i had that way.

No it didn't have to be anything like that. It was this.

I have been there a couple of times on Saturdays and the guy behind the counter was nice, took the guns out and let me see them. But when somebody came in to pick up a gun he had us wait outside while he went in the back to retrieve it which I thought was kind of weird but with only one guy working I can understand.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. He doesn't know who we are. I almost offered to go outside but I just had the feeling he was closing up, even though it was 1pm and the sign said 2pm.

The other thing that struck me as odd was they don't seem to have an inventory system on the computer. When I bought something he took out a clipboard and wrote the purchase and amount and then used the register. Also they never update their website.

yeah lol, that's a gripe I have with lots of gun shops.

My brother asked him where that 686 for $399 was...he said oh that's really old...

Bay State Trading Post is an awesome shop thumps up[thumbsup]. Clean and run by a very courteous owner. I highly recommend this shop to people. This shop will be getting all of my business. When the wife allows it ...[laugh]

Baystate Trading on Rt. 44 in Rehoboth is the best shop in the area. Broad inventory of guns and ammo. Very professional and gun-smart staff and friendly too.
