South Carolina shooting injures 3 deputies, 2 officers

The shooter and his wife have 9 foster kids. The oldest, 28 years old, was being investigated for child sex abuse against one of the other kids.
Family is apparently well- known to local LEOs and known for being overprotective of kids.

Oldest was supposed to be in court on Friday on abuse charges.

Actually, the initial police response was two female officers (not that that matters) who were there to question the adult son. The foster parents were notified as a courtesy and that allowed the father to set up on the two officer with a 6.5Creedmore rifle. The follow-on officers were all patrol officers. The first one killed was shot because he was able to bring effective fire on the father with a patrol rifle.
There was no "wanna play Army". Yes, the Chief was an idiot for notifying the parents but sending two officers to question a person accused of child sexual assault is hardly a "raid" or a reason for someone to start playing sniper against Law Enforcement.
