Saw an article in the local paper while down in SC. I will try and get a link. Basically in SC you can carry a loaded handgun in the glove compartment of a vehicle without a permit and the legislature is looking at a bill that would allow carry under the seat of a vehicle as well.
Argument was made that a person would be better able to defend themselves with quicker access to a firearm than from a glove compartment.
Funny part was the quote from law enforcement that basically said that the "bad guys" are going to carry anyways so they felt no impact in officer safety from this law. They also stated that the criminals are carrying on their person so this law only affected those that are law abiding. Strange to hear common sense from someone on gun laws.
