Still younger, 1892, and even more accurate. M1888 cleaning rod bayonet Trapdoor Springfield. 100 yards with 405gr lead SWC over 70gr Pyrodex.

This is a provenance piece....belonging to one Clarkson Courtright of the 12thNY vols....great-great-uncle of Mac1911. The rifle was one of a crate of 20 delivered to the 12thNY in 1894 when Courtright signed up. He spent 3 months in Santiago, Cuba, on occupation duty from 1/1/1899-3/31/1899.

String pull through and small soft beads filled with oil. Cap is a bayonet lug for an early HK type bayonet.

Most are 1951 to 1953 La Coruna large ring 7.92mm Mauser actions. Suitable for 7.62X51 147g FMJ NATO round.

Mostly issued to Spanish units in N. Africa. There are some interesting photos on the net.

Shrimp and crab filled octopus.

Here are two new addition to the K98 family. A BSW and BCD 4. The BSW was a very nice surprise as I suspected it would be along time before I found one. The BCD 4 is my first Duffle Cut. It was cut in a less than standard fashion at an angle on the forend. Just adds to the character in my opinion. I also thank Majspud and 40Cal for taking care of me.
