First the short story:
A friend of mine is ex-military but hasn't shot in 20+ years. Recently, he's been trying to get back into it and he bought himself a Shield 2.0 in 9mm.
Unfortunately, at the same time, he's been fighting cancer. Although his condition seems to be improving, he's currently unable to consistently rack his slide.

His solution to this is: "Do me a favor and put 1000 rounds though this". I'd really hate to break it to him that for the cost of 1000 rounds, he could almost buy a Shield EZ... and I'm not sure it would fix the problem.

Does anyone know of a replacement spring/rod assembly that would be a bit lighter fort him? I've been poking around "Wolff Gunsprings" a bit, but they don't seem to have anything for the shield.

He should be able to trade a 2.0 shield for a 9EZ for close to a wash...especially if he explains the situation.
