So I'm putting on a pistol forend on my shotgun (mossberg 500) and i messed up the threads on the end of the tube on the action bars.......i suck how am i gonna fix this.

If it's not too bad you could probably straighten them with a thread file.

what is this heli coil you speak of?

its pretty much a threaded insert. You drill out the existing hole, press in the helicoil, and then you've got nice new threads.

Drill it out to the next biggest tap drill size and rethread it.

I think you mean the fine threads on the slide that hold the forend on??
If so I would think ordering a new slide and nut would be the way to go.
Cant cost to much?
