Smith & Wesson model 649-1 Bodyguard, J-Frame, 5 shot, .38 special cal. All stainless steel, 2" barrel, Hogue boot grips. Mfg. in 1990 (pre-lock) and rated for + P ammo. Scarce model to find (at all, never mind in MA) J-frame no snag pocket hammer and shroud, early 90s quality S&W.
Excellent condition, very smooth double action on this, tight and clean. Fired it a few times, but has become a safe queen. These J frames were built to last.
Earlier model 49s are not rated for plus P ammo and sometimes that is all that is available to purchase in carry ammo. The newer model 649-4/357s have a slightly heavier frame with a longer barrel and will cost you more.
Comes with an MK Tec IWB holster still new in package ($57.00 value) and an extra set of Pachmayer grips ($30.00 value). Having both grips give you options, you will probably end up buying an IWB holster anyway.
I have owned the light-weight J frames and they carry a little nicer but shoot terrible and beat you up at the range.
Price: $675.00 cash. Will run it here for about another week, if no sale, back in the safe it goes.
