Went to the range over the weekend with my buddy from GA and everything seemed fine. I finally had some free time and figured Id clean my guns. Cleaned inside and out and now the slide doesnt feel right. With the gun decocked its nice and tight but when you pull the slide back and cock the gun the entire slide feels way too loose. I dont recall it ever doing this and would really like to figure out what happened. Gun has 1000-1200 rounds through it.

Heres a quick video. Any help is appreciated.

If you haven't, try taking it apart again and putting it back together. If you could take pictures when the slide is off the frame. (Looking down to see internals). And Then we can compare to mine and others. Maybe check the recoil spring and see if its seated correctly.

Mine looks the same, and does the same exact thing that yours does. So does my shield. I believe it's normal it's just that you never noticed before.

Well Im glad its normal thought something was wrong. I did notice if I flip down the sear disconnect lever and rack the slide it stays tight but if you flip it back up its loose again.

Is is the ejector ok?

if its wabbling around only when cocked, i would be concerned about the striker or sear being wonky. Agree disassemble and inspect or get the gun back to S&W. I would not fire it if the slide feels off.

also by watching your video nothing looks off to me. It looks fine.

Yeah everything looks ok. Spits out rounds when cycling by hand just fine. I just cleaned my PPS before this one and that gun is much tighter so maybe thats why something seemed wrong to me. I usually put one in the chamber and holster it so I never noticed the front to back movement.

Its normal for slide to move back relatively easily so as to allow the barrel to drop down and disengage from the slide. Its another advantage of a revolver because its so easy to push most autos out of battery if the barrel or front of slide are up against the target.
