Weaponcraft Training did a SIMS training class yesterday, their first ever for civilians (done several for local government agencies).....

I'll have to get permission, but think that some of the scenarios might be interesting to discuss.

The only student injury that was weird yesterday happened during a scenario where the "perp" was very close to the student, and tries to grab for his gun. The student accidently shot himself in his own finger at very short (an inch?) range. No blood, but it stung for the rest of the day. If it been a real situation, it would have been a lost finger for sure.

If you're struggling to keep your gun in your possession, be careful of where your hands are.

Two of the participants were NES members!

Anyone (else) ever done any SIMS training?

Are you talking about something like this, http://www.simunition.com/index_en.php

I went through a simunition training course while I was in the Navy. There was an old decommissioned ship that they setup scenarios where we had to react and defend the ship, handle hostage situations, and rioters on the pier. It was A LOT of fun, they did hurt on bare skin though.

I would love to attend something like this again.

YES! That is exactly and precisely the type of training I am talking about.

Since this training is done in doors, and our facility is somewhat well suited to it, we'll plan on running more of them during the Winter months.

Normally, these SIMS weapons and techniques are only available to LEO's and gov't agencies. So, it's a unique opportunity to try out real scenarios, designed by the guys who train the LEO's and gov't guys.

We had a local ICE guy come to watch our session yesterday. http://www.ice.gov/
