Might one of you good folks clear up some confusion for me please?

Question is, what exactly defines an IWB holster? I am pretty certain the acronym stands for 'in the waist band', yes? But does that distinguish it only as being attached to the belt/waist as opposed to a shoulder or ankle rig, or is it something else? Some holsters can be clipped to a belt, some have the belt actually be threaded through straps on the holster...What of the pancake variety? I have a cheap Uncle Mike's, where the paddle part goes between my pants and shorts, but it that considered an IWB holster, or not...?

Thanks for any insight,

Leighton

IWB is INSIDE the waistband. It's worn between the pants and the body. Some are "tuckable", with a clip attached to the bottom and comes all the way up, so you can still tuck in a shirt over it while it is clipped to a belt.
