Can anyone point me in the right direction? I picked up a commander frame, slide and barrel from John at Remsport, who was great by the way, and am attempting my first build. So far it has gone smooth (with some minor fitting of parts). I was wondering about sights. I have settled on Novak adjustable, but when I look at brownells they have Novak Adjustable for fit with S&W, Kimber or Colt. Three different options, I dont know which will work best for my remsport slide. Anyone build a 1911 from remsport that can help me out with figuring which one is the one to get? Thanks in advance.

Geez, I didnt even think of that.................

Because they are closed right now, and I wanted to see what others used in past builds. Maybe others experiences could help me in a decision.

It depends on what sight cut was machined into your slide.

If you're in a huge yank to figure this out, try looking in the sight section in the Brownell's 1911 catalog and match the dimensions of the dovetails. You'll need to be careful going this route, I think there are some styles that have similar dovetails but different clearances in front or behind the slot. If you have Kunhausen's 1911 books, I think he's got a bunch of dimensioned drawings for a few different sight cuts too. Unfortunately, best bet is to really ask Remsport what was machined into the slide, hopefully the slide has a S/N or was matched to a frame for them to reference back to.

My bad, it was cut for Novak. I just didnt know if the reference for Kimber, S&W, and Colt made a difference because some of them list different heights, etc. By the way, here are some pics of my progress. So far, its a working firearm that needs sights, a magazine and the frame to be finished (havent decided on finish yet). IMG_20110802_231000.jpg

Novak Low Mount Brownells

Fixed Sights
662 000 027
662 000 028
662 000 029
Kensight Adjustable Sights
100 002 639 through 100 002 644
If you use Kensight Adjustable sights be sure to use a 215 or 225 hight front sight
These will all work. You will have to fit the sights the dovetails are cut tite.
Thanks
