I posted this on another site-- figured someone here might have some ideas as well. I'm thinking of asking Jimmy Flynn at FS.

I've had my 228 for a few months- purchased new. This gun just shoots high. I can shoot all my Sigs and get good groups in the center of a target (combat sighting- dot covers POI). Well this one shoots groups ~2" high at 25 feet! I've tried different ammo from a rest and offhand with very similar results. The only way I can get bullets on target is using a 6:00 hold which sucks! The front sight is #6 and the rear is #8. Any idea of what I should do? The Sig manual say a rear #7 will get me 2 inches lower- but at 25 yards! My range is only 50 feet and I haven't done extensive testing at 50 feet yet. If I do try the #7- how can the armorer center the sight laterally without going to the range? Thanks!

I would imagine Greg Derr can adjust it to make shoot center. I used to be able to hand our match armorer my 25 meter target with a group just off of center, come back after lunch and it would be shooting center.

FS has onsite SIG armorer now. They should be able to take care of you, even if you're just getting the parts.

I noticed the SIG manual doesn't actually tell you how to do it other than say "move the left site in the direction you want the group to go" or something to that effect.

Hm, thats quite odd...The P228 I got to use shot low...

Yeah... at first I thought it might have been me... but after benching it and shooting my other Sigs- without a doubt it is shooting high. It shoots pefect for a typical bullseye target if I use a 6:00 hold... but all my other guns (including Sig) are set up for combat sighting so this is no good. I'll probably call FS to see what Jimmy can do with a rear sight or otherwise check it out. Sending it to Sig via FedEx alone will cost a small chunk of cash.

If you live close to Exeter,NH you can just bring it up yourself. I did that with my P229 that I brought up to have a Nitron finish put on. You might get a long turn-around time depending on the work being done, they've had my Sig now for 8 weeks, expected delivery on Mar. 8th. [roll]
