Sig P230 legal in Ma

Hi,

I have a freiend that is selling a Sig p230 (1996). It is not on the Mass firearm roster, but my friend insists it is legal. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

If he lives in Ma and it is a face to face transaction (not through a dealer) then he is correct. The roster only applies to dealer sales.

A Dealer MAY be able to transfer it, if the gun is papered exempt.

Most handguns are legal in MA. Whether or not you can transfer a given
gun through a dealer is a different story, though.

If you're both licensed and he hasn't sold four guns this year on private transfer, there's no need to go to a dealer, you just need the FA-10 from your local police department.

No. The only copies go to the buyer, the seller, and the state Firearm Records Bureau. Nobody else gets a copy.
