Sig p229 legality question

Hey guys i have a quick question. My friend has a p229 not in mass that I want to buy. It didnt come with 10 round mags. Is it illegal to buy the gun if it can accept more than a 10 round mag?

Transfer to a mass ffl without any mags. Have to buy 10 rounders or prebans for it. Provided you have a large cap. Permit.

If you have an LTC-A and can find an FFL to transfer it to you, you can buy it. You'll need to find some legal mags though.

if you're a Mass resident then the handgun would have to be transferred to you by a Mass dealer.

BUT unless it's the Mass compliant Sig (has a hole on top of the barrel as a loaded indicator and designated 229-M) you're probably not going to find a Mass FFL to transfer it to you.
