Show us your Snipers and Hunting Rifles

My MK12 Mod1'ish'. I decided to go with the Knights Armament URX instead of the M4 Match rail system.

Self Built Custom .308

- Remington 788 action & factory barrel in .308 Win -- the 788 was discontinued in 1983
- Boyd's laminate thumbhole stock (rough) - inletted, free floated, sanded & finished w/2 cans of Valspar spray poly
- Custom swivel mount for the old Harris bipod, 180 degrees of motion, rock solid, stronger than any factory model
- 3-12x50mm BSA tube w/shade & Butler Creek caps - expensive optics are usually a waste of money

I acquired the rifle used in 1986. I've killed two whitetails with her @ ~405 and ~520 yds w/150 BSTs, and 50+ whiteys between 50-350 yds over 25 years--she's never let me down. I swapped the stock and made the bipod swivel mount in fall 2009. More pics of the rifle here. http://www.hardwarefreak.com/web/308/gallery/ Click one then use the controls at the bottom.

Let's see if we can get that ad out of my post by bumping, as it's shrinking the pics horribly and screwing up my text formatting. The preview doesn't show ads clobbering the post. These "in post" ads are rather annoying. They should be instead inserted between posts or in a side bar as most other forums do, instead of mangling users' posts.

My heresy enfield experiment. She has yet to take a deer, but hopefully next season.

I don't have any pics of my 30-06 Mauser action though. Beast was my grandfathers and has been taking deer since before my dad was born.

@Mav, that there sure is a beautiful piece of equipment

Thanks man. Just finished it and test fired it this past weekend. Think I'll zero it and break it in next weekend.

I'm in Fall River and shoot up at the Taunton gun club at least once a month. If you're ever up for some range time, just PM me...

This thread doesn't get much love. Here is my newest build. "Budget" build.

And how does she shoot? Not to bad. 10 shot group using Ultramax Reloads. The outlier is the cold bore shot. Then I proceeded to use PPU match which she did not like at all. Could barely get 1.5MOA.

Next up .260 build.

Torn here. Do i build a good bolt rifle, like a Remi 700, or buy an FN SPR A3G?

fnspra3g-02.jpg

Easy, BUILD! Personally I would go Savage but I'm a Savage fan boy. Nothing is more fun than building a gun and getting it just the way you want it. Anyone can go and buy an off the shelf rifle, but if you build it you have much more invested personally. Plus its plain fun.
