A man is facing charges after he fired two rounds from a shotgun on Saturday during an incident in Weare, police said. Weare police said they responded to reports of a potential mental health crisis in the 200 block of Mountain Road.

Officers from the Weare Police Department and New Hampshire State Police responded. When officers arrived, police said they found a man had barricaded himself in a second-floor bedroom, so they used a drone to get a closer look.

That's when police said the man fired two shots from the window before surrendering.

"Once the shots were fired, obviously in this area we rely on mutual aid quite a bit, multiple jurisdictions responded just out of concern to ensure that citizens were safe and the scene was safely secured," said Weare police Chief Christopher Moore. The man was taken to Catholic Medical Center for a psychological evaluation. He was charged with two counts of reckless conduct with a firearm
