I've been through the RSA'a and F&G trying to find if there is a magazing limit. The only mention of any magazine limit on shotguns to 3 rounds is for waterfowl hunting. Centerfire rifle is limited to 5 rounds.

I've bushwacked into a rather thick area with good sign. I'm thinking the right tool for this is my Saiga shorty with a five round mag of 3" 9 pellet 00buck. Any NH folks know of a reg limiting boomsticks to 3 rounds for deer ?

In most cases the deer is going to be out of the range of buck shot but the 4 th shot.. But to answer your questions, there is key words to look for in laws...waterfowl, and center fire rifles.. A shot gun is a shot gun. No limit for shot guns for hunting anything other then waterfowl

I can find no law to prohibit this. [smile] [wink]
In the words of a MA tool, "I can find no law to allow this."

Rub your freedom in! [smile]

Just curious, why shotgun? Until moving here I had never heard of anyone using a shotgun for hunting deer, and since I didn't care I didn't give the term "buckshot" much thought. I use it in MA because I must, but in NH - I'd use my rifle.

The area I've been hunting is very thick. The longest shot is about 60 yards. It's tough to get into as well and I've got a folder on the Sagia so its mush easier to handle on the way in. Everybody seems to set up less than half a mile in from a road. I've been going in deep and waiting for them to push a deer over to me.

I have only taken one deer in NH that was over 100 yeards, well within the range of a shotgun. Had I had my shotgun I would have been able to take the shot within 100 yards

Not a fan of buckshot unless you have a dedicated gun with a proper buckshot deer choke to pattern it tightly and limit your shots to very close range. Buckshot out of a standard shotgun wounds more deer than kills them.

That being said a slug will outperform buckshot every time and will cut through the brush better because of the superior mass.
