Figured instead of a bunch of threads can make a megathread for the announcements coming from SHOT this week.

EXCITING NEW HANDGUNS INBOUND TO SHOT SHOW 2020
01/20/20 2:57 AM | by Chris Eger

There are a ton of new pistols and revolvers that will be showcased at SHOT Show 2020 this week and Guns.com will be bringing you the details.
Here are some of the more interesting announcements in the past few weeks that are sure to be front and center at the largest firearms industry trade show in Las Vegas, in no particular order.

Heckler & Koch recently announced they finally read the letters to Santa and are introducing as close as they can get to a consumer MP5.
Dubbed the SP5, the semi-auto 9mm pistol closely matches the look and feel of the legendary MP5 submachine gun. How closely? It has an 8.86-inch Navy type barrel with threaded tri-lug adaptor, paddle magazine release, fluted chamber, and a chrome-lined bore. Further, it uses the same roller-delayed blowback operating system that has been HK’s hallmark for generations.

SHOP THE P320-M17 FROM $599
Sig Sauer is the latest company to divvy up military-inspired goods, launching a commercial version of its M18 pistol, aptly named the P320-M18.
Built on the P320 platform, the 9mm chambered P320-M18 opts for a 3.9-inch barrel nestled in a compact slide. The gun also boasts a carry length grip module, we’d assume to make it a more viable option for those that want to slip this in a holster incognito.
The P320-M18 is nearly identical to its military counterpart featuring black controls, coyote-tan coloring, and ambidextrous manual safety. Weighing in at 28.1-ounces, the gun sits 5.5-inches in height with an overall length of 7.2-inches.

Smith & Wesson’s M&P EZ Shield is going 9mm with the company announcing a new model in the series centered around the popular handgun cartridge.
The M&P EZ Shield 9mm version joins the .380 ACP variant, offering an easy to load and easy to rack design. Featuring a capacity of 8+1 rounds, the 9mm model boasts a 3.675-inch barrel, Picatinny-style rail, reversible magazine, tactile loaded chamber indicator, and one-piece, single-action trigger.

Billed as offering a “full-size punch in a compact package” the FN 509 Compact MRD 9mm pistol is optics ready and has a 12+1 capacity.
Using the same FN low-profile optics-mounting system as the rest of the MRD series, the Compact version accommodates most commercially available miniature red dots while featuring blackout iron sights that co-witness. Other features include a flat-face trigger, an accessory rail for compact lights, two additional backstraps to conform to different user grip sizes, and improved ambi surface controls.

RUGER GP100S OF ALL KINDS FROM $605
With an 8-round triple-locking PVD coated cylinder and target crowned 6-inch barrel, Ruger’s newest GP100 revolver is ready for serious 9mm Luger fans with competition on their minds.
Based on the Ruger Super Redhawk action, the GP100 series has long been the company’s go-to for competition and hunting wheel guns. Their newest model, which uses a cylinder and extractor cut for moon clips to speed up reloading, sports a 6-inch half-lug sleeved and shrouded barrel with an 11-degree target crown for “competitive-level” accuracy.

Ruger is stretching out their Mark IV Target .22LR pistols to include models that come standard with a 10-inch bull barrel.
Building on the company’s legacy of rimfire semi-auto target pistols, the new guns still use the standard Mark IV one-button takedown for quick and easy field-stripping with no tools. Coupled with a one-piece precision CNC-machined grip frame, the 10-inch barrel is near twice the length of the model’s typical 5.5-inch barrel variant. Even Ruger’s Mark IV Hunter and Competiton models only offer a 6.88-inch barrel.
RUGER LCP-II LITE RACK 22LR

LCP FOR SALE
A rimfire version of the company’s well-liked .380 ACP pocket pistol, the new Ruger Lite Rack LCP II is chambered in .22LR.
With the same profile as the more familiar .380, the Lite Rack gets its name from the fact that it has an easy to charge slide. Further, instead of the 6+1 capacity of the larger caliber LCP II, the .22LR version has a 10+1 single stack magazine capacity.

The full-sized and full-featured Ruger 57 handgun was announced just in time for the New Year and comes standard with a 20+1 capacity.
Announced on New Year’s Eve by the firearms giant, the 5.7x28mm Ruger 57 uses a through-hardened, billet steel slide with lightening cuts coupled with a glass-filled nylon frame. When it comes to specs, the new pistol has a 5-inch barrel with an overall length of 8.65-inches and a weight of 24.5-ounces. Of note, that makes it almost a dead ringer for FN’s Five-seveN pistol, which was developed in the early 1990s for its eponymous cartridge.

Colt earlier this month made it Facebook Offical: the vaunted Colt Python is back for 2020, available in two different stainless models.
Colt first introduced the full-lug six-shot heavy target style revolver in 1955 as something akin to the Cadillac of wheelguns. The big “I” frame .357 Magnum (although some .38 Special target models were made) was king of the block when it came to wheelguns for generations, which caused prices on used snake guns to skyrocket when the Python was put to pasture in 2005.
Now, after a 15-year hiatus, the Python is back in a 4.25-inch and 6-inch variant.

Virginia-based KRISS USA announced a rimfire expansion to their Vector series firearms with six new guns chambered in .22LR.
The new rimfire Vector will officially hit the market at SHOT Show in Las Vegas later this month but KRISS let the cat out of the bag early. The rimfire line will include three Vector CRB carbines with 16-inch barrels and an M4-style stock while the three braced pistol Vector SDP-SB models come standard with an SB Tactical stabilizing brace and 6.5-inch barrels. Each will be offered in black, flat dark earth, and alpine white color options.

CHECK THE PRICE OF THE GLOCK G44 22LRS
Pitched by Glock as a pistol designed for “new shooters, sport shooters and everyone in between,” the G44 has a lot going for it.
Debuted last month after a cryptic build-up, the G44 features an innovative hybrid steel-polymer slide and the ability to adapt to any user’s hands via backstraps supplied with the pistol. Glock’s first rimfire handgun, it is designed to emulate the crowd-pleasing G19, using a 4.02-inch barrel which produces an overall length of 7.28-inches– the same as the popular 9mm mid-size. Likewise, they have the same 5.04-inch height, a factor which means most G19 holsters will work for the G44, should you want to carry the 22LR on the trail or around the ponderosa.

The XD-M Elite series, a group of four new striker-fired pistols, takes the long-running XD line to a new level. Each comes standard with the company’s new Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly (META), a flat face trigger that SA contends “delivers the finest trigger pull available on a production polymer-framed pistol.”
Other features across the 9mm XD-M Elite offerings are match grade barrels as well as enhanced ergonomics such as an ambidextrous slide stop and redesigned slide serrations.

Springfield Armory’s new Ronin Operator, a full-sized M1911A1, will be available in 9mm and .45 ACP variants. The two-toned pistol has a stainless steel forged frame and a forged slide of carbon steel with hot salt bluing. The company stresses their forged frames are much better than cast framed M1911s.

Offered in five models that vary in finish and sight options, all come standard with a flush-fit 13-round magazine as well as an extended 15-round mag.

SHOT Show 2020: Federal Terminal Ascent Ammo

1579624363838.png
We often speak of bullet evolution and how our modern variants are better than what our fathers and grandfathers had. I can think of no better genealogy than Federal’s new Terminal Ascent bullet.

Federal has long embraced bullet designs from other companies—beginning with the Sierra and Nosler bullets in their Premium line more than four decades ago—but their own line has been equally satisfactory. Wisely acquiring Jack Carter’s Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullets for use in their own loaded ammunition, you can trace Jack’s original design to the Federal version—nickel-plated yet with the same devastating terminal ballistics—and then to the polymer-tipped boattail Trophy Bonded Tip, through Edge TLR and finally to the newest offering from Federal: Terminal Ascent.

federalterminalascent_inset1.jpg

Nickel-plated, with Federal’s blue Slipstream polymer tip, the Terminal Ascent bullet is an improvement on the Edge TLR—and that was a very impressive design—engineered to cover hunting situations from up-close-and-personal to reach-out-and-touch-someone. Terminal Ascent bullets have high ballistic coefficients (BC) values, and have been proven to give reliable expansion at impact velocities as low as 1350 fps, yet the lead core at the front of the bullet is bonded to the jacket in order to hold it together at high impact velocities, making it a wise choice for hunting at all ranges.

The AccuChannel grooves cut into the shank of the bullet reduce both the bearing surface of the bullet and bore fouling, as well, yet they don’t increase drag. Federal’s engineers experimented with the number and positioning of grooves on different Terminal Ascent bullets, and were surprised to find that one well-placed AccuChannel groove could do the work of two in the wrong place. Each bullet design has its own groove placement. Additionally, each caliber’s weight has been chosen to give the optimum BC value.

federalterminalascent_inset2.jpg

Federal will initially offer Terminal Ascent in 11 different cartridges: 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC (130-grain), .270 Winchester and .270 WSM (136-grain), 7mm Remington Magnum, .280 Ackley Improved and .28 Nosler (155-grain), .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield (175-grain), .300 Winchester Magnum and .300 WSM (200-grain); all will come in 20-round boxes. Terminal Ascent bullets will also be available in component form for the handloaders: 130-grain 6.5mm, 136-grain .277-inch, 155-grain 7mm and 200-grain .308-inch.

Having spent a healthy amount of time with each one of this bullet’s predecessors, I have no doubt that Federal’s Terminal Ascent will put smiles on hunter’s faces, meat in their freezers and make memories to last a lifetime.

New for 2020, the Benelli Lupo stands out from the horde of recent bolt-action introductions simply by the fact that its maker is so successful—at designing and building shotguns. But does that translate to the hunting-rifle category? Does that track record matter with a simple turnbolt that doesn’t rely on the ingenious intertia-drive system that makes Benelli semi-auto smoothbores so highly regarded?

Certainly the Lupo—Italian for wolf—will have to prove itself as capable as its smoothbore brandmates, but what does matter is that it comes from the same engineering shop, the same designers and the same manufacturing plant that many consider the world’s most technologically advanced. After hatching the idea about five years ago, the development team has produced a bolt gun whose style is distinctly fresh and modern, but was actually driven by handling ergonomics.

At 7 lbs. even, the Lupo is a bit lighter and sleeker than its competitors, housed in a black synthetic stock shaped so that the shooter’s hands wrap around gripping areas for optimum stability and comfort. The trigger sits high in an oddly canted integral guard, a distinctive look that also minimizes strain on the shooter’s wrist. But for a small indentation, the five-round-capacity detachable box magazine extends the line of the fore-end.

Fitted inside the buttstock is a rifle version of Benelli’s Progressive Comfort onboard recoil reduction system that uses interlocking buffers to soak up rearward thrust before it smacks one’s shoulder, and the harder the kick, the more the buffers are pressed into service. Also catering to shooter comfort is the crushable, interchangeable Combtech cheekpad that ensures perfect, natural sight alignment.

Both features were co-opted from deployment in Benelli shotguns where they have been hailed as genuine breakthroughs in recoil management. The stock also is sold with a variety of shims and spacers that help owners personalize the fit to their stature and preferences, what the company calls Perfect Fitting.

benelli-lupo-field-shot-1.jpg

NRA Publications Editorial Director John Zent spent time in the field with the Benelli Lupo.

Forward-thinking Benelli engineering is evident the rifle’s unique two-piece receiver. Rather than relying on the traditional construct, the Lupo consists of a heat-treated steel upper receiver cradled within an aluminum chassis (or lower receiver). In part, this helps to slenderize the Lupo, but more importantly it provides a rigid, impervious platform that promotes shot-to-shot consistency.

The upper connects to the 22” or 24” Crio-treated barrels threaded at the muzzle. With three locking lugs, the bolt stroke is short, quick and smooth-running. Its handle doglegs away from the stock and ends in an easy-to-grip oblong orb. The ambidextrous safety is a rounded toggle housed just behind the upper’s rearmost curve. It is conveniently placed for thumb operation and in the off position reveals a bright red indicator dot.

Also installed is what the maker calls its Perfect Shot Trigger, which can be owner-set to break between 2.2 and 4.4 lbs., and to break very crisply according to all who have fired the rifle. Owners will likewise appreciate how easily the bolt disassembles without tools for deep cleaning.

This year’s models will be offered in .270 Win., .30-’06 Sprng. and .300 Win. Mag., and additional calibers are planned for 2021. We don’t have confirmed MSRPs just yet, but expect them to be in the $1,500 range. At that level, buyers will want to be assured of top-notch performance. There will be doubters, just like there were when the Super Black Eagle and other Benelli scatterguns first hit the market.

However, no one can doubt now that those innovative, shooter-friendly models reset the shotgun category, and while nothing is assured, the Lupo possesses every bit as much thoughtful innovation and all the practical performance features one could want.

Holosun optics company is known for its avant garde solar backup-power rifle and pistol optics, especially reflex pistol sights. The company announced big news at SHOT Show 2020, a complete revamp of its existing product array as well as the addition of some consumer-demanded carry optics. “All our products are now V.2,” said a company rep at the 2020 SHOT Show media range event.

Rising to the task of meeting its consumer-generated wants list, the company has lightened up its optics while also strengthening them, thanks to titanium housing material. Another welcome change are the bigger brightness adjustment push-buttons that make gloved and intuitive operation possible.

New Holosun Optics
Model 407 C0 shows the larger brightness adjustment buttons
Perhaps the biggest re-design is also the most in-demand. Battery access for the company’s optics is now on the right side instead of underneath. That’s a real time- and stress-saver to shooters when it comes time for battery changes. No more worry about loosened mounting screws or re-zeroing after changing batteries. Even so, time will be saved as the updated optics also tout longer per battery run-times.

There’s more: mounting systems have been improved to achieve a lower profile.

Among the optics demonstrated at the Media Range Day event was the 509 reflex sight. It’s a redesign of the 508, built tough and light with titanium housing all around. The new price is $430. And even while updating their existing product line, the Holosun folks had time to do something entirely new – design slim, compact reflex sights for subcompact carry guns.

Among these are the 407K, with a 6 MOA dot, priced at $230. Its upscale sister, the 507K, still has the multi-reticle system, and sells for $290.

Holosun’s new products are shipping now, though you wouldn’t know it based on the company’s website, which lags in comparison to their full-speed ahead development and production processes. Inquire with a favorite dealer to order from the vastly upgraded 2020 product line.

ONTARIO, Calif., Jan. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Mag Instrument is introducing the MAGLITE® Tactical Group (MTG) at SHOT SHOW 2020. The introduction of MTG coincides with the release of several new and enhanced products for tactical use for law enforcement and military including, the ML150LRS Compact Rechargeable System, MAG-TAC II, and Butt Stock Shell Holder.

The ML150LRS Compact Rechargeable System, a smaller version of the award-winning ML150LR, is estimated at 800 lumens, a beam throw of approximately a quarter of a mile, patented heat sink technology, excellent battery life, fast charging, and multiple-function sets and operating modes. "These new products we know will be well-received in the law-enforcement community and at the SHOT Show 2020," said Anthony Maglica, Founder and CEO of Maglite.

The MAG-TAC II is a compact hand-held flashlight, CR123 powered and ergonomically designed with multiple contoured grooves to provide a firm grip for those using either the HARRIES HOLD or what legendary firearms trainer Bill Murphy has coined as the Rodgers/MAG-TAC Hold. "Other tactical hand-held flashlights used by law enforcement have tactile surfaces to reduce chance of slippage, but the MAG-TAC II provides a whole new level of secure grip and control in high-tension situations." said Bill Murphy, President of Firearms Trainings Associates.

The newly enhanced MAG-TAC® LED Rechargeable System now with higher lumens and longer run time, is an advanced lighting tool powered by a high capacity Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) rechargeable battery engineered for long service life with a 2.5 hr. charge time. Along with superior quality, performance, and reliability, the MAG-TAC® LED rechargeable flashlight comes with a detachable pocket clip and a USB powered mountable charging base. The aluminum body has an aggressive knurled design and stealth matte anodized finish and comes with either a crown or plain bezel.

Maglite Tactical Group is also introducing a tactical shotgun Butt Stock Shell Holder (BSSH). The BSSH will fit most of the popular shotgun models for both right- and left-hand use and provides quick access for up to 8 shells for fast and versatile reloads. "My preferred combat weapon has always been the shotgun and this accessory helps alleviate the one real tactical drawback to that weapon," said Murphy.

Also featured at the booth will be MAGLITE® Roadside Safety packs available in four (4) different models.

All of these products will be showcased at Maglite SHOT Show Booths 4029 and 30109.

Point Blank Enterprises to Demonstrate ‘Head to Toe’ Protective Armor Systems at SHOT Show 2020

POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Jan. 21, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Point Blank Enterprises (PBE), a leader in the field of protective body armor, announced today that the Company will showcase its innovative solutions at the 2020 Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference (SHOT Show). The premier industry event kicks off on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 and will run until Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“We’re very excited to highlight our most advanced body armor solutions, carrier designs and technology-driven initiatives at this year’s SHOT Show, some of the firsts the industry has seen,” stated Michael Foreman, EVP of International Business Development, Federal Sales and Marketing.

After extensive cooperative research and development between the two companies, Point Blank and First Tactical are pleased to announce the launch of the public safety industry’s first-ever fully integrated apparel and armor line, the V2 Pro Performance System. This ground-breaking solution allows departments to purchase a fully integrated system featuring the V2 performance armor carrier with NIJ Compliant ballistics, shirt and pants. These products shall be designed with Officer Safety as the priority along with the quality and image of the personnel being in the forefront in today’s demanding environment.

Point Blank will also feature its latest Armor Smart Configurator which allows customers to easily view, build, and customize their body armor according to their individual preference for fit, function and protective coverage, all in real-time. The new digital application enhances the product review experience by giving users an opportunity to configure their body armor based on key features such as the ballistic shape, coverage, and NIJ threat level, as well as predefined options. Within minutes, customers can easily view the concealable or tactical vest that best meets their needs.

These cutting-edge solutions, among others, will be on display at the Company’s booth (#11366) in the main exhibit hall. On display will be some of the latest concealable and tactical products offered under the Company’s world-class brands, including:

Delta Wing by Gould & Goodrich: The Delta Wing series holsters are made by a thermal molding process that envelops the weapon from the muzzle end while others wrap from the front or back. This allows the body of the holster to be split at the front and back. The adjustable tension screw is moved low near the trigger guard and the result is a holster that will not bind due to an imperfect draw stroke during dynamic movement. With its patent pending design, Delta Wing provides a sleek new look, Level 1 retention with a minimalist application, and a fast, forgiving draw.

Compression Carrier by Point Blank Body Armor: Exceptionally lightweight with an ultra-low profile fit, this specially contoured vest fits ergonomically and allows the wearer to have optimum protective coverage with maximum maneuverability. Constructed of highly durable stretch material that moves like a second skin, the Compression carrier provides unparalleled covert protection for around the clock performance.

Tactical Body Armor Systems with Tank Track™ Technology by Paraclete: Paraclete offers several new tactical carriers including the SRV, Bikini, ARMIS Gen II, and APC, designed with advanced laser-cut lightweight composite material, TANK TRACK™ with Debris Management System (DMS). TANK TRACK™ with DMS is a proprietary design engineered to provide superior puncture, abrasion and water resistance. TANK TRACK™ with DMS has a two-fold design which limits the amount of debris being introduced into the vest and allows for any remaining water and/or debris to easily exit without compromising the functionality of the vest.

“Point Blank remains committed to making the highest-performing, most comfortable, and safest ballistic solutions. Our newly expanded V2 line of fully integrated apparel and body armor, holsters and carrier systems that support the increasing demand for more modular, scalable and adaptable capabilities, reflects this,” stated Daniel Gaston, CEO. “We look forward to joining our law enforcement officers -- the men and women who depend on our life-saving products at SHOT Show to collaborate on developing the next generation of protective systems.”

From the tactical shotgun specialist comes another innovative combat/defensive shotgun, but this time in a levergun.

That's right, the Black Aces Tactical Pro Series L is much like a Marlin or Winchester lever-action rifle, except of course that it holds 6+1 rounds of 12-gauge. It’s slick, fast and there’s just something cool about being John Wayne of the shotty.

The Pro Series is available in four finishes, but I like the anodized black receiver with the black walnut, and wouldn’t you know it, this is the least expensive version too, but I’ll get to that later.

Its 18.5-inch barrel is just longer than the legal minimum so the gun doesn’t require a tax stamp. But it also comes with a bird’s head shorty grip—a la-Mossberg Shockwave—so it can be supremely packable all why remaining legal. With its full-size buttstock attached, it measures only 39 inches overall, but it shoulders and points intuitively, as all defensive shotguns must. The buttstock features a no-nonsense recoil pad and a sling stud. Both buttstock and fore-end are checkered for solid grip.

The action features a mid-size loop so even ham hands can get three fingers in it for leverage; it’s receiver is aluminum that contributes to this shotty’s light weight of only 6.4 pounds. Finally its barrel features a hooded front sight and is threaded for Benelli-style choke tubes.

But perhaps the best thing about this innovative shotgun? It retails for $399, making it one of the least expensive guns you can buy, period. What’s more, it’s practical, deadly and just plain fun to carry and shoot. Don’t expect to find the Pro Series down at the local Wal-Mart, however. Instead, shop directly from Black Aces Tactical. $399; blackacestactical.com

So far the things I am most excited about:

The Holoson 509T (enclosed emitter rds) looks like a winner. Better battery life and better reticle than the ACRO says Aaron Cowan. So far its the thing I am the most excited about.
Also Surefire has updated their scout lights .The Scout pro bodies look pretty sweet if you are running a laser. I hope the sell the bodies alone so I can get one for my Modlites. lol.

Also the Grey Guns Sig P210 and 10mm p320 have given me gunboners. The regular P210 carry looks pretty slick too.

anything on that new glock 10mm? the 8 shot was it?
I haven't seen anything yet besides the other thread on here for it

Sadly, it was not announced.

Range Day was on Monday and all Glock had was the .22 Glock 44.

The Holoson looks amazing.
The ACRO was the state of the art until now.
Holoson is less expensive, too.

I'm liking the look of some of the new semi autos with red dot optics mounted. Been eying a 320 RX but nice to see some additional options being added.

The whole industry has gone completely gay over RDS, I think theres even a P365 and some Springfiled single stack with a f***ing RDS on it.... [rofl] like how can you have an optic of any usable size on something that small?

Admittedly it's been about 6? or so years since I ran a pistol with an optic on it, and haven't run something with a slide mounted one in probably longer than that... so it's probably something I'm being unfair about. I just cringe at the thought of more f***ing things that take batteries.... cwithe.

Would be nice if MagPul would give the Mini-14 some love.

Samson MFG put the MSRP of their factory folding stocks at $279.00. Still not available through their website or from shopruger.com yet though. C'mon guys I'm just waiting to give you my money already to relive my A-Team childhood.

Nope. My Bad. PSA is still promising the sale of their PSA-5 "before the end of the year" just like they have for the past 3 years.
Very first thing you need to do the change out all of the furniture. So far there isn't a threaded barrel.

Their $300. Glock copy is interesting but unnecessary

I dont think any business has a model for how use Shotshow for strategic marketing. Its either: Take a closer look at what we've been selling for six months, or: take a look at what we may release in the next three years. Add to that its not open to the general public = not interested. Watching this weeks highlights will be about as useful as going to "THE GREAT AMERICAN GUN AND KNIFE SHOW" in Marlborough MA this weekend.

We also spoke to a gentleman at the Colt booth that had the Python on display. Asked about chances of a version of the python making the MA approved roster. He said there are talks about making a target roster version. No specific timeline as they can’t keep up current demand as is.

Ironically a friend of mine works at a machine shop in MA that produces the barrels and a lot of other machined parts for the python and various other models and parts for other manufacturers that aren't on the list.

Huh, Angstadt MDP-9 upper is roller lock and uses an actual MP5 barrel. Seriously wondering how they pull this off with no stock space for a recoil spring.
