SOMERVILLE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Police serving an arrest warrant in Somerville have shot and killed a suspect who had opened fire on officers, leaving one officer in critical condition.

Ugh. Prayers for his recovery and for his family, they must be a wreck over this right now.
 
What an unfortunate event. At least the doctors appeared positive wrt his potential for recovery. Indeed, his family must be besides themselves.
 
UPDATE

A Somerville cop shot while serving a warrant earlier this month was released from the hospital yesterday, only to be rushed back when his stitches opened up.

It was Detective Mario Oliveira’s first time home since the gun battle in which the suspect was killed.

“When Mario first came to us, he was dying of multiple gunshots to the chest and abdomen,” King said.

Fatal Shooting Of Armed Somerville Man Justified

Somerville police officers and federal ATF agents will not face any charges for shooting and killing a 21-year-old man after he opened fire on officers trying to arrest him on gun trafficking charges.

The Middlesex district attorney’s office said on Friday that Matthew Krister of Somerville bought eight handguns in New Hampshire in ten days and sold six firearms to gang members last October.

As authorities investigated the case, Krister told an ex-girlfriend that he would get into a shootout with police officers if they came looking for him.....

The reviews usually are swifter when you have an officer almost shot to death by the suspect.
