Shooting in church in S. Carolina

Apparently - ” South Carolinians are prohibited from carrying in a church or other established religious sanctuary “unless express permission is given by the appropriate church official or governing body.” (from TTAG)

Another mass shooting in a gun free zone.
 
No motive was given in the articles I read, however it's being referred to as a hate crime because it was a white individual who attacked a black church.

This train is going straight to hell, they need to stop worrying about hate/not hate. Basically a hate crime just boils down to an "extra" bad crime because a white person did it against a black person. It seems like we have as much or more division in the races of this country than previously in the past 20 years or so.

How many shootings in gun free zones do we have to have before people figure it out? Criminals dont care about laws!

Do you think this coward would have done this if he thought others had guns there???

it would, if the intent was to kill people based on race, unless the intent is to kill white people. hope they fry him sooner than later.

maybe not, if he killed 9 criminal punks attacking him then it would be. he picked on people that will not call for violence.
 
It's interesting though, the Mayer of Charleston worded it as if it's a hate crime because it was perpetrated against a church, not because of skin color.

"The only reason that someone could walk into a church and shoot people praying is out of hate," said Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley. "It is the most dastardly act that one could possibly imagine, and we will bring that person to justice ... This is one hateful person."

Yet another reason why - if no metal detectors are present -
I carry in church, in schools, in the post office, in state and federal buildings, literally everywhere.
Because, so help me God, I absolutely refuse to allow some deranged/hateful as*hole to tell me or my family that it's "judgment day". And I refuse to face down said as*hole while I'm unarmed, simply because some idiot politician, judge, cops, whatever decide that I'm "not allowed to carry" my weapon of self defense in one of their idiotic "gun free zones".
Forgive me, Lord, for disobeying another mortal's rules and orders, however I feel it's my right to remain safe and protected, even in your house of worship.
Sunday is Father's Day. I'll be at 9am Mass, with a G26 in my pocket. And Lord, I respectfully believe that you understand why. You created us, you created the world, and a few a*sholes have done their best over time to destroy it. You'll forgive them, as will I .... and you'll hopefully forgive me for arming myself this Sunday in church.

Rest assured you are not the only one out there who feels this way. I'm never in church without my daily carry piece. It's a city church we go to and the temptation for someone to come in and rob the place in broad daylight is just too high. God forbid it ever happens. But, the bad guys don't expect to encounter anyone armed and prepared to defend themselves.
 
It sucks that guns are so vilified in black culture. Perhaps if someone in the church was carrying, the result would be different for the gunman.
 
Don't hate the move if we all started clipping a senator here and there they might start listening again. This will be okay as long as he is a racist and not anti government. If he's anti govt they are going to come down harder because they know they suck and this will happen more and more. Race it'll just be it's those damn skin heads again
 
Vote the senators out, no need for violence.

The escapees from NY are happy for the distraction.
 
I've looked at the pics of the suspect. They have identified him as white. I'm not really sure what "white" entails these days, but I see something different.

His complexion appears more olive to me. Middle Eastern, perhaps? Italian? Hispanic? Or light skinned black male? He does appear to have a bit of a larger, rounded nose too. If the hair is real it's not likely from a black male at all. But there's more to his appearance than "white" IMHO.

Maybe it's just the picture. But I see something a shade or two darker than what I'd call "white".

Is it just me?
