To the OP, yes, its that simple. Safety glasses can be made to your Rx.....but unless you get side protection, they will not offer the protection that regular industrial type Z-87 or Z89 safety glasse swith side shields do.

Exactly, RX concerns are secondary. My eyes aren't bad enough to bother me and I'm really just looking for protection.

I had the same concern you brought up. I'm looking at these http://www.discountsafetygear.com/boflsi.html for side protection when I'm shooting and I'll take them off when I'm not.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys. I think I'm going to drive to Randolph and have RE make me up a set of glasses!
