Puddle Pirate. That's a good one.

Which towns in Germany while in Old Rustbucket? (I was in the Forest Meister, AKA 32d AADCOM, my 2nd tour.)

I spent 3 years in Ray Barracks in Friedberg - various 1st Brigade, 1st AD units there. (near Bad Nauheim and Geissen). Did much of our training in Grafenwoehr Training Area and Amberg in Bavaria. I miss some aspects of the country. Had a lot of funs shooting with guys from Waffen-Online.de, the German gun owners website.

That used to be 3rd AD country. I was in Hanau (Francois and Pioneer) and Frankfurt (Gibbs) my first tour, the wife was in Frankfurt (Gibbs) and Giessen her first tour. I've got 3 Graf's under my belt, as well as a few trips to Wildflicken.

We actually met there. It's a real good line.

"How did you meet your wife?"

"We had dinner together, with a mutual friend. In a Mess Hall."

Nickle,

What years were you at Gibbs? I spent a bit of time there (visiting). Had some buddies there for a while and went to the movie theater there about once a week. I was in Kennedy Kaserne and Gutleut but most of my 3years, 3 mos there was spent in govt quaters with my wife and child.

I now you told me before but I'm old and forget things.

Pssst Jon, Marines don't want to admit they fall under the Navy. They believe they are in a league of their own. [wink]
I'll now go crawl back into my fox hole and wait for fire.[laugh]

JonJ had it right the Navy wanted some BAGGAGE handlers, so they created the Marines. ;-)

Just another friendly jib, I have nothing but respect for everyone that has signed on the dotted line. Unless they are truley a POS in heart and mind.

(Flame suit on) ex coastie here.

Hey this is getting out of hand. I had no idea that my Navy comment would cause such a controversy. I'm so sorry.

I thought the Marines wanted the Navy for transportation....at least that's what my father-in law said was the only thing the Navy was good for.[laugh] God he's rubbed off on me. Don't know why I'm defending you guys[laugh] [laugh]

Well, you have to break it down:

Marines: Wade through the surf under fire, sleep in the mud, eat from a bag, carry everything on their back, engage the enemy in person.

Navy: pushes a button and destroys the enemy groups from relative safety, gets off shift and eats a hot meal with real silverware while watching a movie, picks up his laundry already washed, then goes to bed on clean sheets listening to his walkman.

EDIT: Not that I'm saying Marines are dumb, I'm just saying I understand why the Navy found people to do their dirty work.

The Devil went Down to New York City

--------------------------------------------------------------------

(Apologies to the Charlie Daniels Band)

**
The devil came down on NYC
He was lookin for souls to steal.
And he was in a bind
'Cause he was way behind
With an Arab he'd made a deal.

When he killed our own on American soil
We knew it was an evil plot.
Bush stepped upon that podium
Said "Boy let me tell you what:

I bet you didn't know it
But we got plans of our own too.
And if you care to take a dare
I'll make a bet with you.

You may have begun this battle boy,
But give America it's due.
We're gonna find you no matter where you go
We'll win this war against you."

Just then a Marine said: "My names Jeanny
This is where I come in.
I'm part of this bet; you're gonna regret
'Cause we're the best that's ever been."

Air Force load up our planes and
bomb those Arabs hard.
'Cause Hell's broke loose in America;
Bush has called out the National Guard.
And when we win you'll not see
those shiny streets of gold
You'll have lost;
now the devil's got your soul.

The Navy leapt up on our ships and said:
"We'll start this show."
Fire flew from their turrets as
they struck a mighty blow.

The Iraqi's marched across the sands
And they made an evil hiss.
Then a band of Marines came in
And it sounded something like this.....

When al-Quida attacked America they said
"Look what I have done"
But just you cower there in your little hole
And let our GI's show you how it's done.

Fire in the towers--run boys run
America was attacked at the rising sun.
Terrorism's always been a faceless foe
It's gonna be a dogfight, don't you know?

The devil bowed his head
'Cause he knew that he'd been beat
And he realized our American spirit
he just could not defeat!

Bush said: "Devil, just come on back
If you ever wanna try again....
I done told you once you son-of-a-*****
America's the best it's ever been!!!!"

I like that rendition. Appropriate, too.

I can't see apologizing to Charlie Daniels, though. He ought to see it, and I'd wager he'd sing it after seeing it. I'm sure he'd be impressed.
