Sent through Newton-Wellesley hospital Wifi

NWH is Partners , and I can freely browse the site on their network but they complain about certain sites like gizmodo or pcgamer butI have acces to the internal wifi not the "phswifiguest"

I usually have no problem getting to NES from Partners facilities. It was blocked again for a short while not so long ago, but working again last I visited one of their facilities.

I 2nd this, it bugs me I cant check out PCgamer. All I want to do is check out the latest hardware...

It appeared to be blocked at Newton Wellesley hospital this past weekend, but there was no "this is blocked", just a failure to connect to this particular site. NordVPN solved the problem nicely.

Could someone with knowledge of the situation elaborate a little bit please?

Is this website blocked in certain areas?

It’s blocked at Brigham and Women’s for sure. I spend a lot of time there. :(

I spend a lot of time at Dana Farber and B&W a few years back. I used the VPN service Private Internet Access. Works great. I continue to subscribe to it and run VPN to this day. I've never found a facility that this VPN did not work in.

Port blocking is also popular at public wifi sites. I had to make extensive use of a medical facility that blocked a boatload of ports, so I had to set Nord VPN to use TCP instead of UD to get it to work.

Interestingly, one of their policies was "Our internet is filtered. Do not make requests for changes to the filtering."

I never had a problem at Dana, don’t recall B&W but was in a bit of a haze those days. Interestingly, the YMCA I take my kids to blocks Alabama Holsters as “weapons” and a couple other gun related sites but I can get into TSUSA, here, S&W, Ruger, Sig, Vedder Holsters, NRA Portal & USCCA. Go figure.

For a while, MGH was not blocking the site. I spent some time there this week/weekend and they are blocking it again.

Unfortunately had to spend a lot of time at Dana Farber the last few months. They definitely blocked NES. Logged onto work VPN and everything was good.

Many commercial organizations subscribe to filtering services, in order to outsource their firewall rules (content filtering) tasks.
These outsource services have gross categories like "Pornography," "violence," "illicit drugs and alcohol" etc.
My own company subscribes to such a service, and gun stuff is caught up in some category or other, which is often enabled by default.

This is an occasional topic here... being unable to get to NES while in hotels, hospitals, etc.
This is usually not because some organization has an agenda, it's usually a case of "out of the box" defaults on the firewalls.

Just use a vpn guys

For those times when you just have to make a post,I mean the urge is so intense that you can't even think clearly and your eyes start watering in anticipation of making a post and people 'liking' it on a gun forum, but your ability to walk outside or use 4G is compromised .. A VPN is the answer to compliment your narcassistic personality ! ...
Because you know there are hundreds of people on NES that can't wait to read what you have to say about concealed carry in a museum or your thoughts on a what kind of gun should a person get.

Seriously,it's kind of funny to hear how people panic if their ability to surf a gun website is blocked for a few hours. You guys some hobbies other than guns lol
