I am looking for a retina specialist in the Metrowest area for my annual retina checkups (had sclera buckle for detached retina in 1997). I read @Ben Cartwright SASS 2016 thread, but am seeking someone closer to home vs. Boston, if possible.

My current doc. is slowly retiring and has stopped coming to the Milford office so I am looking for someone now while he is still practicing at other offices. I will also ask my current doc., but thought I would check here as well.

Retina Consultants of Worcester. Drs. Bradbury and Dr. Chang. I've had two detached retinas and a vitrectomy done by them. They have privileges and consult with both St. Vs and UMassMemorial I believe..

In addition to Tufts medical center she sees patients in Wellesley.

Thanks, I was hoping to get someone closer to the Milford, MA area, but I will take a look. I like that she was voted one of the "Top Doctors" by Boston Magazine several times.

Thank you, Dr. Chang looks like a possibility. I will dig more into his background. I like Bradbury's background, but it looks like he is in his early 70s and I would be concerned with him retiring soon like my guy is.

Amit Todani, MD should need able to monitor your retina. He's not a retina specialist but is more than able to screen for further tears.

Thank you. I should also mention that I had a maculopathy in the other eye a couple of yrs. ago. It was lacquer cracks in the Bruch's membrane. I will check on Dr. Todani, but am leaning toward a retina specialist given all the issues I've had over the years.

If you want Metrowest the go-to guy is Dr William Tang in Natick (a block or so from Roach Brothers on 135/W Central). Highly recommended by two optometrists who frequent the local gun range (need an NES connection). All business, not a great bedside manner, but a superb technologist.

If you are willing to go to the Mass Eye & Ear, the top dog is Dr Demetrios Vavvas. Also excellent, but has fancier cameras at his disposal, and often uses IV fluorescein die. Also has a reputation as a superb surgeon.

I recommend Dr Caroline Baumal from Tufts. I saw her for a couple years after she repaired my detached Retina.

Caroline Baumal, MD

100% agree. Dr. Baumal and Dr. Nadia Waheed repaired my 40% detached and torn retina last June. It was emergency surgery (like most detached retinas) and they reattached it using a laser to "weld" (as they call it) the retina to the back of my eye. Incredibly amazing surgery! That photo does her no justice - she's very easy on the eyes (no pun intended)!

Caroline Baumal looks like a guy, just saying...

Another vote for Dr Weigand - has (is) doing excellent work on my diabetes damaged eyes for the past several years.
